Human and Anti-Human Labors

We need nothing of “labor” as the economic civilization, with its deranged production imperative, conceives it.

 

Our true work expresses our humanity. We who are still able to perform our fruitful work thus retain this portion of the human birthright. But we who have been forcibly sundered from the Earth and our human cooperation as part of the Earth, forced to “work” for an alien institution, have been robbed of our birthright.

 

Therefore we who have the honor and the misfortune, we who have been fated to live in this time of the worst perversion of the human endeavor and the most confused divergence from the true path of history, face a twofold work requirement.

 

We must as ever do our human duty, fulfill our human responsibility, perform our human work. But today we have the added burden of rejecting and resisting the false “work” of Mammon, commodity production, globalized false “trade”, corporate rule. This false work, this false buying and selling, is nothing but selling our souls and the purchase of perdition, enslavement, death.

 

How have we come to this dead end? Mythology says we fell from the Garden of Eden and have been cursed with the need to toil ever since. The forces of evil have sought power over our toil, turning us into slaves either directly as chattel or by monopolizing access to work and controlling the modes of work so that only as zombies can we function in the world of “work”.

 

Worse, although this exile was a primal sundering and alienation from the source of our being and soul, the gravid Earth, we have been taught falsely to view this exile as a journey toward freedom, toward prosperity, toward knowledge and transcendence. Never has a more obscene Orwellian inversion been performed than this version of “Slavery is Freedom” which has been shouted from every false pulpit for thousands of years, and never with greater omnipresence and volume than in the modern today, the time of fossil fuels.

 

The myth really means the exact opposite. Adam and Eve were organic and ecological in the Garden. They were integrated, elemental, primal. They lived as the lilies of the field. But Satan seduced them to desire the alleged knowledge which would make them as gods. Thus they broke the unity, broke the integration. The Original Sin was scientism itself. The original curse was the sundering of humanity from nature, the exile, the alienation.

 

Since then this same Satan has taught us to believe we must replace the primal foraging and horticulture, living with the lilies in the Garden, with the gruesome and destructive toil of industrial agriculture and its epigones in every economic, political, and cultural sector. Destroy the Earth, destroy our bodies, destroy our souls.

 

Jesus echoes this as he speaks to the multitudes in the Sermon on the Mount:

 

No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. You cannot serve God and Mammon.

 

Therefore I say to you, Take no thought for your life, what you shall eat, or what you shall drink; nor yet for your body, what you shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?

 

Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them.

 

Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit to his stature?

 

And why take you thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they neither spin nor toil,

 

And yet I say to you that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

 

If God so clothe the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is cast into the oven, shall he not clothe you, O you of little faith?

 

Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, How shall we be clothed?

 

For your heavenly Father knows that you have need of all these things.

 

But seek you first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added to you.

 

Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

 

– Matthew 6:24-34

 

The meaning and truth of this is unchanged whether we say God or the Earth. Even the most fundamentalist secularist must make the same choice between faith in the Earth’s natural bounty or faith in the godhood of the engineer’s technology to render what he calls the sterility of the earth fertile. The natural fruit is truth, the artificial is a lie. This is the same truth and lie confronting every religion, including the religion of scientism and technocracy. So make no foolish distinction between modern “enlightenment” and medieval darkness. All modes of thought have equal potential for light or dark, depending upon how they embrace the truth of ecology or the lies of Mammon and technocracy.

 

The same is true of Jesus’ injunction to his disciples, as he sends them out to minister:

 

Provide neither gold, nor silver, nor brass in your purses,

 

Nor scrip for your journey, neither two coats, neither shoes, nor yet staves: for the workman is worthy of his meat.

 

– Matthew 10:9-10

 

[He] commanded them that they should take nothing for their journey, save a staff only; no scrip, no bread, no money in their purse:

 

But be shod with sandals; and not put on two coats.

 

– Mark 6:8-9

 

These injunctions are addressed to all of us as well. We all need take nothing. If we lived in truth, scientific knowledge and moral good faith, this plus the agroecological bounty would feed us beyond all hopes of prosperity, fulfillment, and happiness. These passages refer to the true reclamation, healing the sundering breach and restoring humanity’s earthly connection. This is the true redemption and reunification. Agroecology and Food Sovereignty offer the promise of this revolution and restoration.

 

The true restoration and reclamation process is to be and live as ecologically as possible in mind, soul and action. Expelled, we can still work in harmony with the Earth. This is the true imitation of the life in the Garden, and is also the embodiment of the true science. Agroecology is the process of rendering agriculture and all of life more holistic, more organic, more integrated. Only through agroecology and its equivalents in every context can we overcome the alienation, imitate the Garden of Eden and present our work to God, history, or reason, however we envision, as proving we’ve learned the lesson, and come as close as we can to paradise on Earth.

 

This does not mean lack of work, or especially lack of joy in the work we do for our own people. Rather, it means working only to guide Earth’s great abundance, to bring Earth’s profligate bounty, itself a free gift of the Earth itself, to a fruition most fruitful for a humanity who also is of the Earth and restores Earth even as we eat of it. The true productive work is the work of tending the natural abundance.

 

Unfortunately the great projects of humanity which sought to provide guidance for this endeavor have lost their way, have betrayed humanity and the Earth. Organized religions have become beholden to Mammon and abdicated their spirit, while secular “leftist” politics completely embraced the demons of production and commodity, thus nullifying itself as a possible way forward for humanity. We have the malign twin truths, God is Dead and Politics is Dead. Each has been swallowed up by the demons of scientism and the corporate person. Each has been swallowed up in death.

 

Today the propaganda of the beast resounds as if from the heavens, its signal boosted infinitely by the corporate media omnipresence. We see how it offers its false decadent lying substitute for the aspirations of faith. The accursed “Feed the World” theology is a false version of grace from on high requiring no works. But in truth this false grace is 100% contingent upon the works of Mammon, meaning that one must undergo the ritual of paying money.

 

Thus Mammon’s grace is the grace of being born rich, while the works it imposes upon the rest of us comprise the constant practice of the money ritual, procuring money and disposing of money. All human activity at both ends, producing (being allowed to rent a “job”) and consuming (total dependency upon the ritual “purchase” from a mysterious source), must be mediated through these ritual religious works.

 

Contrast the promise of Food Sovereignty, the true feeding of body and soul, where we the people feed ourselves out of the righteousness of our human work, free of Mammon, free of contingency, only our free work for ourselves, our families, our communities. This is the true grace.

 

Therefore let our holiday give all respect to the righteous who do the necessary work in good faith. But let it also teach us that under the rule of Mammon most of the work is unnecessary, most is imposed by force, by circumstance of the Fall. What’s more, gratuitously even by the lights of the Fall, Mammon forces commodity production, production for its own destructive and tyrannical sake. Secularists call this “capitalism”, though it is verily a religion. The world is as enchanted and suffused with spirit as ever. It is temporarily in the clutches of the most malign, destructive, benighted religions of Mammon and scientism.

 

Do you want to produce food for human beings, or commodities and poison for corporate “persons”, a kind of demon? True work is the former, false perverted work the latter. The same is true in every other economic sector. Indeed never has the very idea of food been so laden with symbolic religious significance as it has become in this modern age, because this is the most religious age of all. Food is literally and spiritually the core battleground and ground zero for the whole of the great climactic struggle for the soul of humanity, the realization of the future, the very existence of the past, and the question of whether there shall ever, in the present, be freedom and fulfillment. The time has come where the only true work is the work of this great crisis.

 

 

 

 

 

The Economy’s Plague

As the Corona pest becomes a psychological pandemic as well, many feel panic over how the alleged panic of others is disrupting “the economy”. We see how many even among erstwhile dissidents suddenly want to run home to ecocidal economic mama.

 

But if the economy wasn’t based 100% upon destruction and disaster, including all the just-in-time tightropes it deliberately walks at all times, including all “outsourcing” and deliberate eradication of all regional self-sufficiency, it wouldn’t be so vulnerable even to severe crises.

 

Propagandists and their apes cite FDR’s warning against falling prey to “fear itself.”

 

But the pandemic is causing only a portion of the ambient fear-itself. The great majority of it was already free-floating and now is being concentrated by this pest. That includes all the anxiety constantly generated by the ecocidal commodity economy.

 

Many fear a non-linear totalitarian jump in police state powers stemming from the alleged need for forcible quarantine, lockdown, martial law, a much greater leap even than the government’s cynical manipulation of 9/11 to vastly increase the scope of its aggressive militarism, surveillance state and police regime.

 

Everyone should indeed fear this. But it’s what they all support at every turn, all ultimately for the sake of the commodity Mammon economy.

 

There’s a famous quote from Ben Franklin which is often cited and almost always in a misguided way: “Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.” This is often paraphrased using “freedom” and “security” instead, no matter. The gist is that people are willing to give up real freedom in exchange for a very false sense of safety. This is certainly true as far as it goes.

 

But in reality it doesn’t go far since today neither freedom nor security mean anything compared to economic consumption, producing and consuming worthless junk, being as destructive and wasteful as possible, and the fundamentalist religious worship of “the economy” as such. Almost all Western or Westernized peoples willingly, eagerly throw away all freedom and security for the ecocidal economy’s sake.

 

Nothing is more enslaving and self-enslaving, more antithetical to all freedom (except the Sodom and Gomorrah license of the rich, which isn’t freedom either – none of them ever looks free to stop accumulating, stop at vastly more than Enough, go be happy and enjoy life), than the economic death march.

 

The economy is the source of the Coronavirus pandemic in the first place, and it is the cause of all the death and travail that comes from this pest. The pest and its effects, including any economic disruption up to and including collapse, is a blow purely self-inflicted by a civilization at war with its own biological basis, including waging war on its own people. The pest arose either from a US bioweapon experiment/attack, or it is a pandemic arising from the economics of globalization (deforestation, factory agriculture, cramming masses into slums and shantytowns, the demolition of all public health systems and all decent access to decent health care except for the rich). The system is deploying every kind of scapegoating in its try to cover up its complete culpability while trying to continue with Business As Usual as much as is politically or physically possible.

 

They scapegoat individuals who their system deliberately has deprived of accurate and truthful information (about this pest and about everything else, going back as far as anyone alive can remember), those they deliberately have deprived of all sense of stability and security and community sufficiency and resilience (again going back as far as we can recall), scapegoat them for giving in to fear (which is a manifestation of the ideology of capitalist-liberal individualism into which they all were indoctrinated).

 

They scapegoat people for behaving exactly the way the elites of the economic society normally want them to behave, the elites which long have expended such massive resources to indoctrinate and propagandize the people into exactly such behavior, they scapegoat them now that we’ve reached a crisis where this behavior boomerangs on the slave economy itself.

 

If you must insist on weeping for the plight of the economy, at least put the blame where it belongs, 100% on the elites. No amount of panic (and none of us knows at this early date what really constitutes panic, as opposed to prudence) on the part of the people could exceed the bounds of the mass-psychological atmosphere the elites of the economic civilization deliberately have instilled in these masses, who this economy deliberately atomized in the first place.

 

 

Having said that, people should not panic. The reason is not because this can aggravate the disruption of the economy which is so grossly disrupting itself, but for their own psychological sake and practical resiliency. (The same reason for personal energy conservation – not because this will lower by one BTU’s worth the amount of fossil fuels the economic civilization will extract and burn, or that it will stave off even one part per million of rise in atmospheric carbon concentration, but for reasons of personal psychological health and practical reasons of personal, family, community resiliency.)

 

It’s this social/cultural/economic system which has destroyed community and family, atomized everyone, driven the modern pandemic of anomie, anxiety and despair. People who feel so demoralized in turn are more vulnerable to physical illness, just as people who are part of an intact, mutually responsible and reinforcing social group feel better psychologically and physically are less vulnerable.

 

Now more than ever we need to rebuild real community, relocalize how we produce what we need and truly want, rebuild food sovereignty, community food security, a renewed way of living with and in the land rather than as parasite squatters on its surface.

 

Such squatters are the most vulnerable to every extreme wind, howling from the economy itself such as crashing oil prices, from the climate crisis, from the pandemics driven by the globalization and ecocide inherent to the economic civilization. Those who live by this economy shortly shall die of it. If the Corona pest turns out not to be the Big One, it’s yet another shot across the bow, a last warning before this imminent advent.

 

 

 

 

Dominion of Lies and Insanity

Like Hitler this civilization is going to hunker in the bunker unto its own bitter, maximally destructive end. Meanwhile we have those who call for WWII-level mobilization, ostensibly to do something about the climate crisis. Many of them regurgitate the long lie that nature is waging war against civilization and that civilization needs to muster for total war in return. Thus we have the rhetoric of World War II mobilizations, the Manhattan Project, the Apollo space program. But I automatically distrust anyone who uses militaristic metaphors in environmental contexts unless the militarism is directed against the destroyers of the Earth. It reeks of Dominion theology, which remains rife throughout the mainstream environmental movement. Like the more conventional right-wing end-times frothing, this rhetoric among the mainstream environmentalists and “eco-modernists” is propaganda toward the corporate-theological agenda.

 

In reality it’s civilization itself, and especially the modern economic civilization, which is inherently ecocidal-genocidal and wages total aggressive war dedicated to exterminating all life on Earth including humanity. Gaia is indeed ramping up her ecological correction mechanism, but this is purely defensive. Much like how around the world there are many defensive political and military actions against US imperial aggression (which aggression many of the mainstream environmentalists also support).

 

 

How is it possible to look at an old-growth redwood or boreal or tropical rain forest and think a god who created such an ongoing miracle wants for hominids to destroy it? They think a god put it there merely for humans to use it as a “resource”? That’s not possible. If so this god wouldn’t have filled it with such innumerable life and made it so beautiful.

 

To say God gave you a resource in a forest or wetland or river is identical to saying this about other people as you enslave them. It’s evil. To put it in Christian terms, these are agents of Satan doing Satan’s bidding. Only Satan could look at a tree and want to cut it down.

 

Dominion theology is refuted by three simple facts:

 

1. If God wanted man to dominate nature, the result truly would be “reclamation” and the recovery of the orderly Garden of Eden. Instead the result invariably is chaos, disorder, destruction. From the point of view of Christian theology, an honest person would have to admit that extractive actions boost Satan’s dominion, not that of God.

 

2. If God created nature in order for it to be dominated and destroyed by man, this god never would have created such unfathomable biodiversity, such an infinite expanse of detail. On the contrary, the miraculous infinity of earthly life would prove to any truly religious person (except a Satanist) that God wanted humans to integrate harmoniously with nature, or at most to be a good and benevolent steward. (“Steward” is a more accurate translation of Genesis than “dominion”.)

 

3. Anyone who really thought the Rapture was imminent wouldn’t be concerned with material “resources” anyway. Those who truly believed the Rapture and/or the Second Coming was imminent would devote all their energies to preparing their souls. They’d have zero time or interest for temporal things like making money. Indeed, they’d consider it to be a bad time to indulge greed, violence, and all the other sins inherent in capitalism.

 

This proves that those who assert the end times are imminent, and that therefore there’s no reason not to destroy the Earth, are frauds and liars. They’re really either closet atheists or closet Satanists. When they invoke the Rapture what they really mean is, “Once we have enough money and guns and techno-gadgets we’ll be free of all social, political, economic, even physical restraints. It’ll be as if we were lifted bodily to heaven.”

 

This sums up the theology of capitalism, scientism, technocracy, Mammon, all coated with a fake neo-Christian veneer. They’ve long since been unable to sustain faith in de jure Christianity, but the temporal matrix of money, technology, power, violence, and ecological destruction seems to offer a synthetic substitute. They no longer believe in a God “up there”, but they still believe in the up-there itself and that they can take the place of this god.

 

Any true Christian, or any other sincerely religious person, would reject technocracy’s campaign to eradicate the original Creation and replace it with a purely artificial anti-ecological machine. It’s the Tower of Babel to a much greater extreme. This includes the summoning and worship of demons called “corporate persons”, and Mammon’s religious belief in the reality and sanctity of money.

 

Most of all it applies to the core mindset of the civilized: Biophobia, hatred of life. And it applies most of all to the core activity of civilization: Ecological destruction for the sake of destruction. Do we need the products of the destruction? No. An entire marketing industry and propaganda ministry have to work day and night to brainwash people into thinking they need these products. Do these products or their profits satisfy anyone or make anyone happy? No. The rich only obsess on how to become more rich, while everyone else, where not yet completely immiserated, becomes ever more anxious, diseased, angry.

 

There’s your proof: The destruction is for no rationally explicable purpose. The destruction is done purely for its own sake. That’s the religion of modern civilization. That’s the essence of Dominion.

 

 

 

 

Rabid Mammon

There are dives where, if a glass of beer drops to the floor and smashes, the winos will dive to lick the sauce from the tiles.

 

There are dens where, if some junk gets scattered the junkies will dive to sniff up the festering dust, mining for a few stray specks of obsession. If someone sneezes at the wrong time they can be beaten senseless for it.

 

For these addicts the drug offers nothing, no high, only compulsion, only brief respite from terror.

 

 

There are graveyards and necropolises where, if literally a single drop of blood, a single dollar more can be wrung from a stone, the orcs which have power are driven to do it. This dollar is worthless to them, they have infinitely more dollars than they ever could spend. What they do spend brings them no satisfaction, no contentment, no happiness, only ever greater compulsion and derangement. For the orcs the money and power offer nothing, no pleasure, no sense of strength and health. It brings only the opposite, grim compulsion and brief respite from terror they inflict first upon themselves, then upon everyone else. This is true of them as individuals, this is true of them as a group, as a city, as a civilization.

 

This is true of the elites, and it’s true of the atoms which worship these elites. The atoms which bow down and chant all day and night at the gravestone of humanity and the Earth, the atoms which worship death. They have no life, no feeling, nothing but compulsion and terror. Only such a force can drive such an extreme death-wishing addiction as we see every day, everywhere we look, in every person-to-person and person-to-Earth relationship. This is the essence of Mammon, a psychopathic derangement, the core religion of modern civilization which encompasses all modern sub-religions – neo-Christianity (science and technocracy), “progress”, liberalism, individualism, productionism, cancer (“growth”).

 

This one collective rabid dog, nothing more or less. The Earth shall put it down, put it out of its misery, above all put it out of our misery: Whatever few humans are left of us amid the burning cities of the blasted plain, we few who are ready to return home; and the greater community who have never embraced Sodom and Gomorrah, who have only been its prey but who maintain their lives amid the Earth.

 

 

 

 

 

Green Cancer

“Green growth” is a contradiction in terms, unless of course the “green” meant is money, and the “growth” cancer. Metastatic growth is cancer. This is true biologically and ecologically, and it’s true metaphorically. Although, since so many of the industrial chemicals required for the growth economy, including any “Green New Deal” version, cause physical cancer, to call the growth economy the cancer economy is hardly even a metaphor. And of course the cancer-industrial complex itself is big business. That’s just one reason no one within the system wants to prevent cancer (the way I’ve dedicated my life to doing), and all the rhetoric is about “curing” it. In the same way, no one wants to stop destroying the Earth, but propaganda gambits like a green new deal are calculated to let the tear-shedding climate crocodiles feel like they’re going to “cure” some of the ecological ills. And this too is a lie.

 

“Under the Green New Deal vision, investment in renewable energy and infrastructure production would be the mechanism for revving up the economy.”

 

It’s the economy itself, the productionist high-energy growth economy, which by its inherent action is driving the ecological crisis and destroying the Earth. Anyone who still wants to “rev up” this economy is dropping the mask and openly admitting they don’t want to help the Earth, only (temporarily) salvage the destruction-based economy. That’s all the “Green New Deal” is about.

 

The mainstream climate movement has no ecological vision or commitment and is nothing but the same old squatter-vandal politics. But the cancer economy of production-consumption fired by extreme energy needs to die. It needs to perish absolutely. This is the only way to preserve any part of the existing Gaian phase. And it’s humanity’s only existential prospect.

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Basic Ecological Flow of Modern Civilization

Over the long run the ecological measure is the one and only real measure for life on Earth. All the artificial measures of Babylon which currently seem so powerful, which often seem even to have superseded the measure of life itself, are ephemeral. The best example is the most extreme example. The fakeness of money, which through global financialization claims to be the most granite reality of all, is just the most extreme fakeness of a civilization whose adamantine towers are always just one breeze away from toppling. These measures of rock built on sand are measures only for the very short run, however long that seems to the victims, and to we ecological dissidents.

 

And so ecology is the only reality-based measure. What’s the basic ecological cycle and flow of modern civilization?

 

1. Extract fossil fuels (and fossil water, fossil phosphorus, minerals, everything which can be exploited for productionism), mine all “resources” (anything and everything including human beings is nothing but a resource), theoretically renewable or not, such that it renders them non-renewable.

 

2. Put all this into motion as aggressively, chaotically, destructively as possible. (Their ideologues call this “creative destruction”.) Force everything and everyone to participate in frenzied action to no purpose. What is the ecological purpose of any action characteristic of civilization? None whatsoever, other than destruction for the sake of destruction. Damage, ravage, poison, destroy the ecology. From the point of view of ecology, the only reality-based measure, almost all civilized hominid action serves zero purpose but destruction.

 

A simple ratio demonstrates this: Look at any hominid and tally what he takes from the Earth, and what he gives to the Earth.* In the case of almost any civilized hominid it’ll be difficult or impossible to discern in what way he’s anything but a pure parasite. And in almost all cases gratuitously destructive as well, a vandal as well as a parasite.

 

3. As the waste product of the pointless frenzy, fill the atmosphere with greenhouse gases and other wastes, fill the water with pollutants, accumulate plastic and other wastes in the oceans, suffuse the general environment with plastics, industrial and agricultural poisons, and every other kind of waste. For as long as the ecology functions, some of this waste biodegrades, some only very slowly, some, especially plastics, maybe not at all. The more waste accumulates the greater the pressure on the ecology to break down and cease function.

 

 

There’s the ecological essence of modern civilization: Extraction of non-renewable “resources”, pointless orgy, massive and terminal buildup of waste and toxification. The ecological measure is the only real measure, over the long run. For civilization it’s a suicide race. Which will come first: Resource depletion, the orgy going to nuclear war or total pandemic, general ecological collapse? Which mode of death: Starvation, shooting yourself, poisoning yourself.

 

The only real questions are, once the nightmare’s over and what’s left behind is a Learian desolation, how much will be left for Gaia to use to rebuild, and at what stability or chaos of a new phase state.

 

This is the long run history of the future. There’s a popular Keynes quote, “In the long run we’re all dead.”

 

Yes. And “Homo sapiens” is determined to make that long run as short as possible for itself as a species. In its civilized form H. domesticus it wants to make life itself extinct. The suicide race also is a homicide race – how much of Gaia can civilization murder before it kills itself. And what can ecological dissidents do: To defend and conserve until the clock runs out; to fight back; even to speed up the clock.

 

 

*To anticipate trolls or even honest questions, here’s what I give to the Earth: On all the land available to me I grow food according to agroecological principles (aka organically). Beyond directly growing food I’ve been active in the community food movement, dedicated to restoring natural modes of food production and distribution, for almost ten years now. I’m a writer and educator, director of two community gardens, have worked at a farmers market and at our herbal medicine garden. In these ways I act and propagate ideas toward restoring these more ecological modes. All voluntary aspects of my life are on Gaia’s vector.

 

I would like to be a full time farmer if I had my rightful place on the land. Civilization encloses the land for only idle or destructive purposes. I’m foreclosed by the religion of money (Mammon), the religion of property, the police. This is to explain how civilization forces limits on how much any of us who isn’t rich or otherwise lucky can give.

 

I offer Gaia my writing, I propagate the necessary ideas to whatever extent I’m able and anyone’s listening. I do all I can to speak to fellow mammals amid the underbrush, calling upon us to wait out the dinosaurs, destroying their eggs whenever we can. I do the maximum I can do. And I engage in no high-impact, high-GHG actions except under duress. I’m conscripted into driving a car; if I could abolish the car completely I’d do so in a second. If I could press a button and cause all fossil fuels to disappear immediately, I’d do so in a second.

 

I envision the coming ecological restoration of humanity, the coming natural community which includes humanity as fully giving and receiving participant. And until then I do what I can to envision the ideas and organization we need today, in order to endure and carry through the little that’s worthwhile, and take whatever action we can.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Elementary Notes on Bacteria

 

 

1. Bacteria are the core of most life on Earth. This has been true throughout the natural history of evolution, our bio-cultural history, and physically, today and at all times. We humans are symbiotic with our internal bacterial microbiome and dependent upon it for our physical and mental health. This is where we must start in describing the modern biological war.

 

2. Today’s bacteria are the same as the primordial bacteria, in effect the same bacteria which never died completely but continued splitting. Our symbiosis links us with this. Each of us is linked with and part of an enduring collective organism.

 

3. The human body is suffused with still-free-living bacteria (our internal microbiotia), while human cells long have been symbiotic with what used to be free bacteria (mitochondria and possibly other organelles). Lateral exchanges (horizontal genetic transfer) continue constantly. In general, complex multi-cellular organisms remain assemblages of primal microbial DNA which has changed little over time other than to collect and interlink itself more closely and symbiotically.

 

This is probably true of human consciousness as well: As neuroscience develops, the brain and nervous system are looking more and more like ramifications from primal bacterial assemblies.

 

This puts human hubris in perspective, especially the liberal/Randroid “individualist” pathology. Between the microcosmos, the impetus of bacteria and other microbes, and the planetary macrocosmos, and from there the broader universe, Homo sapiens is a tenuous, ephemeral, meaningless thing, except insofar as we give our lives meaning for ourselves. To be individualistic about it is to be even more absurd and egomaniacal.

 

This also puts idiocy like genetic engineering in perspective: The megalomaniacal lunacy of it, that such clueless puny creatures are going to murder and replace Gaia and become gods themselves; and the biological danger of it, which just like climate chaos is far more potentially disastrous to ourselves than to Gaia at large.

 

4. We’re all symbiotic with bacteria. Herbicides in the environment and diet strip us of our bacterial health maintenance, as sure as wind chill strips our cushion of air, our personal micro-atmosphere which helps regulate our body temperature. Herbicidal bacteria-killers and antibiotic abuse in factory farming and genetic engineering are trying to sunder us physically from Gaia, from our symbiosis with the permanent organism.

 

5. The emphasis on so-called “genes” is an emphasis on an arbitrary unit. This focus, which suppresses emphasis on naturally definable DNA on the one hand, or the full symbiotic organism and its communities on the other, is an attempt to expunge both ecological science and politics/culture in favor of technocracy/scientism.

 

A basic move of the junk science of genetic engineering and sociobiology is to depict “the gene” rather than DNA as the key unit of the genome. DNA, the genome as a whole, always is fluid, chaotic, unpredictable. “The gene” is supposed to sit still, remain unchanged, exert a constant predictable effect. But in reality this is a lie. There is no rigorously definable “gene”, let alone any scientific way to attribute agency (gene reductionists like Richard Dawkins are a type of animist) or causality to such an ineffable thing.

 

6. Human brains networked with bacteria comprise a larger super-organism possessing sentience. Jung expressed this with his theory of the collective unconscious. This is part of the psychological, spiritual idea and feeling of Gaia. Religiosity also arises from a potentiality and trend of the evolution of the bacteria/human brain/human social animal network, and therefore is part of Gaia. (Again, gene-based dogma is bubble-based and posits an isolated individual, and in this way seeks to smash and atomize all collective psychology and spirit.)

 

7. The technosphere is an emergent collective techno-organism with its hominid appendage, driven mainly by its own ideological logic reflected in the conscious minds of the appendages, plus a rogue bacterial strain which has become a form of aggressive vermin (the hominid appendage also is part of this vermin package). This strain operates in accord with the power-concentrating tendency of Mammon and technology.

 

James Lovelock, Lynn Margulis and others wrote of Gaia and the ecosphere, Jacques Ellul, Dmitry Orlov and others against the technosphere. The mainstream media, advertising firms, every kind of PR flack of the corporate state, comprise the technosphere’s mode of speaking, its general mode of indoctrination and propaganda. Therefore we should view propagandists, not as “wicked” but as equivalent to botulism or rabid dogs. This is precise since they are veritably the servants of such bacteria and viruses.

 

8. Agrobacterium tumefaciens is using a portion of Homo domesticus and technology to expand its domain. This includes using these to wipe out many counterbalancing bacteria in our bodies and open the terrain for a few pathogens (botulins, salmonella). Pasteurization, pesticides, antibiotic prescription abuse also are means of wiping out microbiotia and selecting for pathogens, especially those which are resistant to antibiotics. From the bacterial level we can see this as a biological war.

 

The hominids who engineer, deploy, and/or politically and culturally support GMOs and pesticides are tools of rogue bacterial evolution: 1. A. tumefaciens, 2. antibiotic resistant strains, 3. accelerated horizontal genetic transfer from and among these pathogens via supercharged genetic promoters and gene drives.

 

9. This is a thread of evolution gone berserk. A. tumefaciens plus maize, soybeans, and few other crops, plus the deranged technosphere-hominid faction, are trying to wipe out soil microbial ecology and from there all other plants. (For example, they used Agrobacterium for Xtend soybeans and cotton, in order to maximize dicamba deployment and massacre all other broadleaf plants. The proximate target is non-GM soybeans, and from there all crops and plants not technologically tolerant of dicamba.) This murder campaign is vastly greater than any intra-humanity death mission such as that of the Nazis. It seeks not just targeted genocide but total ecocide of humanity and the Earth. Humanity, of course, is inextricably part of the Gaian ecology. By definition ecocide includes total genocide, and those who seek to murder ecosystems want to exterminate humanity as well.

 

10. Such ideological notions as “the Anthropocene” or that genetic engineering is a form of conventional breeding can arise only from rogue bacterial derangement. Verily this is a biological war. We have a small but well-organized and extremely violent group of microbes, who have enlisted a small and extremely violent cadre of hominid mercenaries, launching a full scale assault against all existing ecosystems including humanity. We can either go extinct, or we can respond with our own adaptation. This has to mean organizing to fight back on the same biological level to eradicate this aggressive vermin manifestation.

 

11. Our mode of thinking and speaking seems to require that we separate reality into concepts and talk as if reality is cobbled together from separate “things”, that both physical and social reality are nothing but disaggregated atoms. This false mode wouldn’t be a lethal weakness if we could remain aware that in truth reality is not cobbled together like this but is a networked whole. But most cannot remain aware of this. So we must think, write, speak only holistically.

 

12. The constrictions of the language are reinforced because the enemy (the propaganda voice of the technosphere and the bacterial derangement) prefers the bogus construct of “the gene” (reductive, in theory technologically malleable) over DNA (too uncertain and chaotic to manipulate or even comprehend) or the whole organism (too complex to comprehend, leads toward political and social thinking which is anathema to the technocratic mentality, just as much as to the capitalist). Aristotle understood that politics is quintessentially human, which is why all bio-warfare activists hate politics, and all who want to enslave humanity hate it.

 

13. I don’t have a TV and only rarely watch at someone else’s house. But each time I do I see commercials for 23andMe. It’s a major propaganda campaign. This propaganda reruns the original racist/eugenic/Nazi program, this time with the mysticism of “blood” replaced by the pseudo-scientific mysticism of genetics. This is part of the general eugenic war plan: Agricultural GMOs, in addition to being weapons of power concentration in themselves, also are a stalking horse for GM-based animal and human eugenics.

 

14. What is the underlying biological basis of belief in corporate personhood and society’s summoning and worship of corporate demons? Or the fundamentalist cult of money? Biologically it’s destructive and self-destructive, politically and socioeconomically it’s destructive and self-destructive, psychologically it’s psychotic, religiously it’s a form of devil-worship. It’s easy to see why the destroyers of the Earth and humanity have organized themselves this way. But the broader acceptance or apathy toward corporate domination on the part of the great bulk of humanity indicates a general death wish which goes hand in hand with the death wish proven by the acceptance and apathy toward the destruction of the ecology we all depend on for our very lives. This indicates a biological poisoning and psychological cancer. The phase change in our bacterial framework, the eradication of healthy, cooperative microbiomes and their replacement with a combination of pathogens and sterility, all of this driven by the nutritional denuding and wholesale poisoning of our food, water, air, and overall environment; and the mass psychological derangement and spiritual deadening driven by all the institutions, atmospheres, ideas, and actions of modern civilization, have combined to afflict humanity with the most lethal pandemic, combined physical and psychological, in human history. It is the great existential crisis of the entire human experience.

 

15. To review:

 

A. Fossil fuels enabled the most pathological and destructive elements of human nature to run rampant. This is a reverse crippling, an alienation from intact, balanced human nature and from human holism within the ecology. This is the ultimate sundering, and the ultimate anti-ecological vermin infestation which Gaia must and shall correct by any means necessary, however harsh.

 

B. Some bacteria – A. tumefaciens, salmonella, botulins – are taking advantage. This has enabled some plants – maize, soybeans, cotton, herbicide-resistant “weeds” like Palmer amaranth and waterhemp – and insects – pesticide-resistant bollworms, rootworms, borers, and many others – to take advantage. It’s all part of the omnipresent microbial evolution. The bonfire of the fossil vanities is a release of the trapped “spirit” of long-dead plankton, algae, plants and trees.

 

C. Capitalism, Randroid individualism, scientism and technocracy are ideological reflections of this berserk drunken rampage, this kamikaze alienation. The near-universal death-wish is one of its pathologies. The Gaia-writers are mistaken to see this as continuity, and the “Anthropocene” propagandists lie about alleged continuity. But in reality it’s a non-linear break, destructive and self-destructive. The great fossil burn-off is ahistorical.

 

D. All this has powered Mammon to become a totalitarian theocracy, vastly more comprehensive, deep, profound, total than any merely political totalitarian regime ever was. And this theocracy is the perfect habitat for the pathogens and their hominid appendage organized into corporate demons to embark upon their terminal campaign of total destruction.

 

16. The only mode of defense and counterattack must meet the attack on its same ecological, biological plane. Gaia’s kinesis slowly but surely will impose the normal biological correction upon the civilization run amok. The only questions are whether Homo sapiens will survive at all, in what condition, and whether we will join this kinesis to help destroy the destroyers. The answers to these questions are in our hands.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

A Cultural Crisis of the Climate Crisis

Climate chaos promises catastrophe. No one within the system is doing anything and no one will do anything. There is one and only one way to avert the worst of the climate crisis:

 

Stop emitting greenhouse gases; stop destroying sinks; rebuild sinks on a massive scale.

 

All else is a lie. Most of all, the Big Lie is that anything constructive can be done within the congenitally destructive framework of the economic civilization.

 

The understanding that catastrophe is inevitable has long been around among “fringe”, “doomer” types. The fact is so incontrovertible that by now it’s starting to trickle into academia and the mainstream media, triggering much shrill criticism from the climate establishment. These mainstream scientists, even as they sound the climate change alarm, have systematically dampened it.

 

The IPCC has been consistently lukewarm in its projections, which reality consistently has outstripped. This isn’t just because the panel needs to attain consensus on its reports, though this does automatically water things down. It’s primarily because the IPCC, and climate scientists in general, have an institutional ideology and personal temperament which inertially cause them to focus on linear projections, discount non-linear, chaotic effects, and in general water down their conclusions. This is hard-wired into their linear, gradualist ideology. In most cases they’re unable to comprehend evidence against this linear gradualism. And then of course they have venal, careerist interests.

 

All this leads them to sound the climate change alarm, but only in such a way as to set up another propaganda campaign on behalf of productionism, capitalism, the economic civilization. The problem has to be solvable within the capitalist framework. The answer to the climate crisis (and all other environmental crises) has to be: Keep Shopping! Keep Driving!

 

This propaganda is required by their ideological commitment to Mammon, technocracy, and productionism, and it’s required for their career and funding interests. That’s why climatologists and mainstream environmental groups have been so peculiarly ambivalent and lukewarm about the crisis: Sound the alarm, but not too loud. They must reject any implication that the crisis cannot be solved within the framework of capitalism, productionism, the economic civilization.

 

They reject this in spite of the self-evident fact that the crisis cannot be confronted that way, that this framework will never, can never, do anything but drive the crisis unto its ultimate worst. That’s why they howl at anyone who tells the truth: The truth nullifies their entire ideology, their entire corporate-capitalist power agenda, their entire technocratic-productionist religious commitment.

 

They try to conceal this by deploring how publicity of the truth will allegedly sow despair and lead to fatalism. But in doing this they only discredit themselves. Here we have the climate scientists, whose reputation in the eyes of the people was always shaky to begin with, openly saying they lie to us about the real catastrophic prospects, and that all scientists and journalists should lie. No wonder de jure denial is so rife even among those who cannot profit from denial and can only be harmed by it. It’s similar to the cultural reaction which generated the anti-Darwin movement in America: It’s a revolt of the disenfranchised against a faction of openly arrogant, supercilious elites. Much of the vaccine-skeptical fervor also has this root cause, though of course it goes far beyond that: We all know for a fact what congenital liars scientists are where it comes to any corporate product which is linked with the scientism religion. The most world-historical criminal example is the poisoner campaign on behalf of pesticides and GMOs, where literally every establishment word is a lie.

 

These elites claim that telling the truth about climate chaos will cause people to disengage? Their open contempt for the people and falseness toward us causes far more people to disengage.

 

By trying to engender false hope in capitalist-technocratic “solutions” which will enable business as usual to continue (Keep Shopping!), by trying to engender “hope” at all (in this and in most contexts “false hope” is redundant), they’re acting as agents of the climate-destroying civilization, another type of sheepdog. And then many of them are out-and-out corporate shills.

 

Perhaps some of them are sincere in revealing their own personal despair, if privately they realize the entire technocratic and economic paradigm to which they’ve dedicated their lives is a total failure, is purely destructive, and has no future.

 

As for their smug, patronizing pontifications about the alleged despair of the people, we can dismiss this with all the contempt it deserves. We the people don’t need fake hope, and we certainly don’t need lies. We need truth and we need action. The only real climate action is action against the economic civilization driving climate chaos and all other ecological crises. The economic civilization these establishment scientists and NGOs represent.

 

They’re proposing nothing and doing nothing. They’ll never do anything but destroy, since their civilization is capable of nothing but destruction. That’s why all their prescriptions, from industrial renewables to piggy-backing industrial recycling on the regular waste/destruction stream to electric cars to cap-and-trade to carbon taxes (taxes on ongoing waste and destruction), comprise nothing but scams and further environmental insults, in many cases (geoengineering, fracking, the escalation of poison agriculture under the Orwellian “climate smart” slogan, expanding nukes and/or CCS) adding or promising to add new ecological catastrophes on top of the climate crisis and all the other crises.

 

All of this is false and evil. There is one and only one way to avert the worst:

 

Stop emitting; stop destroying sinks; rebuild sinks.

 

All else is a lie. Most of all, the Big Lie is that anything constructive can be done within the congenitally destructive framework of the economic civilization.

 

Where does this leave the civilization consecrated to economic extraction and production? Where does this leave technocracy? Where does this leave Mammon? I think the answer is obvious, and the more people comprehend the truth of the great crisis of the age, the more will awaken to what’s obvious. This awakening is what our “scientists” and “environmentalists” want to prevent. “I shop, therefore I lie.”

 

 

 

 

What’s Really Indicted by the Indictment

On its face the indictment of some Russians for internet trolling sounds just like all the previous “evidence” for Russian perfidy: A big nothing. Certainly all the attempted manipulations of every country on Earth add up to nothing compared to the daily manipulations all over the world engaged in by the US corporate system. It’s the field against Tiger Woods in his prime. But the real goal of this indictment is the subsequent criminalization of anti-corporate dissent as such. The key part isn’t the allegations about “foreigners”, but about what kind of speech they engaged in which allegedly is criminal: Regular, run-of-the-mill political speech.

 

The mainstream media is sounding the toy bugle of judgement day for Russia’s day that will live in infamy, while our earnest “progressives” are engaged in microscopic parsing of the statues invoked in the indictment, trying to discover whether this is “real” evidence that Putin is the Antichrist. Reading them, a visitor from another planet would think there’s such a thing as a “rule of law” here. But in reality there’s nothing but Might Makes Right with the law being nothing but a weapon to be deployed however power wants to deploy it.

 

All one needs to know about US concepts of “citizenry”, “foreignness”, who is and isn’t “alien” etc., is that in the US/globalization system corporations are considered legal persons as well as given priority over all nominal “law” at globalization tribunals, and that in principle and practice big money is the only real right. The most direct legal application of this to elections is Buckley v. Valeo and its appendix Citizens United. These are just logical extensions of the Mammon ideology as such, which believes money is a real thing and that all human-to-human and human-to-Earth relations should be reduced to money relations. All forms of liberalism (and conservatism) and the mainstream media agree with this and are components of it.

 

So it’s easy to see that the “rule of law” exists nowhere but in the minds of regressive progressives. Money also doesn’t really exist, but unlike with rule of law, the rule of money is enforced aggressively enough that it has become the real power.

 

So all one needs to know about these Russian allegations is what a piddling amount of money is involved, even according to the indictment. That says it all about the real effect of Russian trolling if it ever existed, how much attention anyone should pay to it, and how the real purpose of the indictment lies elsewhere: Part of the ongoing campaign, supported across the mainstream political spectrum and by all mainstream institutions, to criminalize any real dissent on the part of Americans themselves. From the corporate mainstream’s point of view, including the Democrat and Republican Parties, we are the true foreign criminals.

These days this poem directly evokes how the scientism religion assaults the human body and soul with agricultural poisons. More broadly it describes the industrial Mammon onslaught which is destroying the Earth. This was part of Blake’s meaning.

A chapel was built in the midst,

And ‘Thou shalt not’ writ over the door;
