Life and undeath cannot co-exist.
There are many stories of the climate crisis. Most try to stuff it within the framework of the normal modern, which really means the extreme ahistoric abnormal though almost no one has the horizons to understand that. Other stories extend the horizon but would normalize it as typical of the “anthropocene”. Some stories deny it completely, usually with illogic that simultaneously denies the climate is changing at all while insisting the climate always is changing due to various causes. Well yes Sherlock, throughout natural history the climate often has changed, and there always have been causes. This time the cause is modern civilization’s berserk kamikaze unleashing of hundreds of millions of years worth of sunlight stored under extreme compression, setting it all loose, at least 5-10 degrees Celsius worth of global heating, in just a few years.
Another way to tell the story is to imagine this civilization digging its own grave when it digs to rob the vast graves of the past. The modern necropolis digs upon the burial ground of its own nemesis. Gaia’s carbon policy has been to bury it as the sun grows hotter. By setting loose the Lovecraftian ghosts of 300-million year old trees the kamikazes are restoring the sweltering climate of those times to bring those trees and their bacterial basis back to life and destroy themselves in the process. Those who Gaia would destroy, she first makes insane.
Hundreds of millions of years ago Earth concentrated the sun’s energy into algae, plankton, plants and trees, all suffused with bacteria and the vestiges of bacteria. Fossil fuels are the ghosts of these microbes. Their physical energy tallies their spirit power, as we see where that power drives civilized hominids into omnicidal ecstasy including collective suicide as they burn it all as fast and destructively as they can.
In every way modern humans are the vectors of these microbes: Bacteria control our minds and bodies through symbiosis and endosymbiosis; the fossil fuel ghost controls its civilized hominid addicts the same way heroin controls its addicts. The fossil ghost seizes the hard-wired tendency among the civilly-indoctrinated toward extremes and fanaticism.
We ascending primalists see the Gaian present, which always includes the bundle of all deep time since the bacteria alive today are the same as those of the Archaen. The orcs, the kamikazes, those who destroy the Earth see only distorted shades of the past. They see only a denuded graveyard where the only motion is the army of zombies it animates, the rising of legions of demons they summon, the miasma of fossil ghosts which make an atmosphere out of the rancid scalding air spewing from the grave.
In their mind’s eye they conjure deathscapes, strew wastelands, construct dead cities, slurp up rivers, lakes, seas, flatten plains to the horizon all sprouting toxic crops, deploy massive machines to sow pollution, noise, waste, destruction, death.
Their berserk commitment enlists every aggressive, competitive, nihilistic element of the inflamed brain. The neurobacterial element which evokes these maximizes itself at the same time that all the actions of the berserker civilization destroy microbial diversity and open all terrains for the most pathogenic bacteria, which then act back upon the hominid vessels.
Bacteria control the process from beginning to end: They formed fossil fuels, which comprise either their own compressed selves or were decomposed by them; and now they drive the kamikaze binge of civilization to unleash their own ghosts. Meanwhile the inflamed brain itself evolved out of bacterial networks and remains fully symbiotic with bacteria.
We see the collaboration of today’s living microbes with the fossil ghosts of those long dead.
The orcs, the kamikazes have enslaved the fossil ghosts in order to murder the living. The ghosts of ancient plankton and trees they now enlist to exterminate today’s plankton and trees.
These are the ghosts and monsters of hundreds of millions of years, dug up and the dead tissue reanimated, conjured and summoned by burning. Burning fuel, burning trees, burning homes, burning cities, burning air.
Their malevolence seizes the inflamed hominid brains while their carboniferous exhalations heat the air and drive the climate into chaos.
Our basic understanding: (1) An ecologically malign bacterial faction drives the kamikazes to liberate the fossil ancestors to help lay the Earth waste the better to dominate it. They commandeer the worst of humanity to serve as their agent while causing these hominids to think they’re the agents. An oil well, a fracking site, a mountain decapitated for coal, send their smoke poisoning and heating, as a war does for a whole country. Chaos and destruction are the paramount goals at all times in every place.
(2) Gaia makes her correction by turning this onslaught against its own perpetrators. The weak spot isn’t bacteria like A. tumefaciens or various botulins, it’s the kamikaze human vehicle which can be driven to destroy itself. Gaia’s bacterial counteroffensive drives the kamikaze civilization to inflict famine upon itself through its self-enslavement to industrial agriculture and deforestation. With their global heating offensive the kamikazes heat themselves out of home. They conjure pandemics against themselves through special animal-factory incubators, crops and animals specially engineered to induce bacterial antibiotic resistance, lavish spraying of herbicides serving as antibiotic-resistance selectors. Many of these are the very weapons of the kamikazes now turned against themselves. They heat the climate to help spread all hot-air bugs and plumb the furthest terrestrial reaches to bring out ALL the bugs. They ramify a global distribution network in order to propagate disease most intrepidly.
Today there’s little need for the fictional horror stories of ghouls, vampires, demon summoning, zombies rising from underground, from where they were buried mwaa ha ha ha. Fossil fuel ghosts are the real life horror rising from the tomb. We aren’t digging them up, they are using us to rise. It’s not vampire magic but bacterial control. All the atrocities of modern civilization are the actions of seized, infected, rabid brains. And today we undergo the final burn-off of all combustible material and all combustible thoughts. To modify one of Dostoevsky’s characters, the fire is in the mind of the people as much as the fire they set to the Earth. This is terminal riot.
And these demons, the ghosts of all past bacteria, algae, plankton, trees, arise as avengers to smite their summoners.

Green Disaster Capitalism

1. There is one and only one set of three actions which can avert the worst of the climate crisis, if done in time. If not, and civilization certainly will not do them, then Earth’s kinesis will do its worst as it imposes all three by force. These three actions are:
End all industrial emissions; stop destroying carbon sinks; let all natural sinks resume their natural ranges.
Anything else is a lie.
2. A “Green New Deal” would be a massive boost and subsidy to extraction industries. It requires monstrous amounts of rare metals for solar panels and industrial windmills, it’ll probably include massive nuke subsidies and thus rake the Earth for uranium; and since all industrial fake-“renewables” depend completely upon a fossil fuel foundation, it will be another monster subsidy to fossil fuels. Judging by the history of proposed climate bills, it’ll probably also include coal subsidies (for “clean coal” scams).
3. What’s a fake renewable? It’s anything requiring a fossil fuel foundation; anything requiring hideously ecocidal mining; anything which will contribute to the pollution-poisoning of the Earth; anything designed to power an economy whose general actions are ecocidal. (GND plans always assume “green” generation of power for what’s otherwise business as usual.) These are just four leading ways any version of industrial “renewables” are not renewable, not sustainable, and will do their worst to render Gaia herself non-renewable. This includes industrial “biomass”, industrial wind, industrial solar, electric cars, and similar campaigns of earthly destruction in the name of the Earth. It also includes river-enslaving, riparian ecology-exterminating, salmon-massacring dam projects in the name of “hydroelectric”. Dams also require massive fossil fuel emissions for their construction and then cause a great spewing of carbon, as inundated soils hemorrhage methane.
4. Since the GND wants to perpetuate the high-production high-consumption industrial cancer economy (AKA “growth” economy), it therefore proposes to continue keeping the majority of the workforce out of food production. That means it proposes to perpetuate the framework of industrial agriculture.
Industrial agriculture itself, taken as a whole, is the number one driver of climate change, the number one emitter and destroyer of sinks. This is in addition to its horrific ecological afflictions, from habitat destruction to environmental poisoning to eradication of biodiversity and its replacement by a monoculture reduced to nothing but crops, livestock, the hominid tenders of these, specially privileged pests, weeds and diseases (since the massive poisoning of the environment selects for resistant strains of these and kills everything else), and the tremendously reduced bacterial community which presides over this.
I’ve written hundreds of times that the only possible way forward for any significant number of people to live at all post-fossil fuels is through agroecology based in the social system of food sovereignty. Indeed the data says this could produce enough food for even the number of people on Earth today, in an ecologically far less harmful way. But of course this would require all able-bodied people to participate in growing food. (Not in any way like agricultural laborers under the corporate industrial system, but as organic horticulturalists, essentially community gardening on a vastly larger basis than the community food movement has done so far.)
It’s a moot point since there’s zero chance that civilization will undertake this transformation. On the contrary civilization will hunker in the bunker like the one collective 1945 Hitler it is and make the end as hard as possible. The deranged-utopian “Green New Deal” and its industrial promises comprise part of this hunkering.
5. How bizarre that so many of the most acute analysts of disaster capitalism don’t see how Green New Dealism is the most extreme, thorough-going campaign of disaster capitalism yet. Unless of course they’ve consciously sold out.
6. One way to view industrial agriculture is that it is modern civilization’s campaign to maximize the conversion of atmospherically inert N2 to atmosphere-heating N2O and a big part of the civilization’s campaign to set loose all the stored carbon of hundreds of millions of years.
We can go further. Governments are best viewed as having their primary purpose in organizing the most ruthless exploitation of whatever can be turned into a “resource”, and the most ruthless destruction of everything else. The US military is a microcosm: It’s utterly incapable of achieving any of its affirmative goals, but it’s very successful at destroying and sowing chaos. So it has always been with governments, with civilization as such: Very good at destroying, generally a failure at any of the positive things it claims to seek: Human freedom, well-being, health, happiness, togetherness, peace. As a rule the “uncivilized” have enjoyed these to a far greater degree than the “civilized”.
It’s no wonder that starting with Cortes, European invaders of the Western hemisphere have felt far less need to guard against attacks from the indigenous, and far more need to prevent defections to the indigenous from their own ranks. As anarchists have long pointed out against the lies of civilization about allegedly sociopathic, competitive human nature: If this were human nature, then why after possessing total power for centuries now does modern civilization still need to expend on a daily basis such massive resources for indoctrination, propaganda, incentives, threats, and violence?
7. Today as Earth trembles on the verge of Gaia’s Kinesis, all the pent up energy of the equal and opposite reaction to the great war of omnicide civilization has waged against her, humanity faces its worst self-inflicted existential threat. But this also is humanity’s great new opportunity for liberation and re-membering with the Earth from which this deranged species never actually was able to sunder itself, in spite of all delusions.
If our biological species survives at all, we will do so only through restored accord with the Earth. In spite of the fantasies of the Green New Dealers, it will not be possible to save the death machine from itself. One way or another, with greater or less agency as opposed to under greater or less ecological duress, we shall resume our natural ecological role within natural limits. Whether this restoration of order is to be a Renaissance or a self-immiseration is up to us.

Get Off Your Lazy, Happy and Healthy Asses and Be Productive (Columbus)

I didn’t get around to writing anything for Labor Day, but I can recover by writing something for Columbus Day since there’s such an affinity between them. Along with shooting the natives and giving them diseases, Columbus and his fellow conquistadors brought moral sermons backed by force, preaching that the natives must cease from their unproductive way of life and get to work the European way. The character of this work was extractive and ecodical, the mode was based on slavery and cultural genocide.
As a later pro-slavery ideologue put it,
“The institution of Slavery is a principal cause of civilization. Perhaps nothing can be more evident than that it is the sole cause. If anything can be predicated as universally true of uncultivated man, it is that he will not labor beyond what is absolutely necessary to maintain his existence. Labor is pain to those who are unaccustomed to it, and the nature of man is averse to pain. Even with all the training, the helps and motives of civilization, we find that this aversion cannot be overcome in many individuals of the most cultivated societies. The coercion of Slavery alone is adequate to form man to habits of labor. Without it, there can be no accumulation of property, no providence for the future, no taste for comforts or elegancies, which are the characteristics and essentials of civilization. He who has obtained the command of another’s labor, first begins to accumulate and provide for the future, and the foundations of civilization are laid…Since the existence of man upon the earth, with no exception whatever, either of ancient or modern times, every society which has attained civilization has advanced to it through this process.”

This describes well the rise and sustenance of civilization. And now we’ve entered the barbarism of modern civilization’s decline.
As fossil fuels, the ghost slaves of modernity as William Catton called them, upon which all of modern civilization is completely dependent; as fossil fuels become simply unavailable, the elites will try to prop up whatever they can of their zombie lifestyles and power by restoring institutional slavery. Their sense of entitlement and their will to violence will never stop short of that. I doubt they’ll stop short of nuclear weapons wherever they deem necessary, once they become that desperate.
I presented here a description of what the system will try to enforce. Read it and know what’s in store if we let it happen.
Getting back to the holidays of the moment, it’s ironic that the back-handed Labor Day (celebrating the willingness of workers to undertake their own destruction, all for the sake of worthless expensive unsustainable material junk) gives workers a day off from grinding and scabbing while on Columbus Day most go about “work” as usual.
Almost all of this work is worthless and destructive and shouldn’t exist at all. (Keep this in mind when you assess something like the Green New Deal which implicitly proposes to continue keeping most of the work force out of food production, and therefore proposes to continue with the omnicidal onslaught of poison-based carbon-hemorrhaging industrial agriculture while at the same time continuing to prop up the ecoonomy based on “work” that creates nothing and only destroys.)
Almost all of this work is worthless and destructive and shouldn’t exist at all. It kills the human soul while it kills the Earth and therefore destroys the very physical basis of our continued existence. As with every other core trait of modern civilization, the Protestant work ethic is an existential self-threat, a collective death wish, a mode of collective suicide.
The greatest religious irony is that Christianity, along with its offspring the modern scientism-technocracy-“progress” religion, has been the most malevolent purveyor of the Dominion theology, yet Jesus himself taught a message in line with ecological harmony as known and lived by traditional cultures. The Earth is a great cornucopia for those who want to live self-sufficiently and fully in the present. (By self-sufficiency I mean, sufficient individuals for species evolved to live as individuals, sufficient communities for species evolved to live socially. Humans evolved to live in tight-knit communities, while the modern liberal-Randroid-capitalist ideology of “individualism” is a psychosis that needs to be purged.)
Our true work expresses and enriches our humanity while helping to enable natural cycles. To the extent we’re still able, we who still perform our fruitful work retain this portion of the human birthright. But we who have been forcibly sundered from our human work and forced to “work” for an alien institution have been robbed of our birthright. Those who willingly embrace the Sunder have become traitors to the Earth, parasite squatters and vandals sliming Earth’s surface.
We who have been fated to live in this time of the worst perversion of the human endeavor and the most confused divergence from the true path of history face a twofold work requirement.
We must as ever do our human duty, fulfill our human responsibility, perform our human work. But today the core element of our work is the work of rejecting and resisting the false “work” of Mammon, the work of the grinder-consumer economy, commodity production, globalized false “trade”, corporate rule. This false work, this false buying and selling under the Mark of the Beast, is nothing but selling our souls and the purchase of perdition, enslavement, death.
Jesus echoes this as he speaks to the multitudes in the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 6) :
24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.
25 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what you shall eat, or what you shall drink; nor yet for your body, what you shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?
26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much better than they?
27 Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?
28 And why take you thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:
29 And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
30 Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?
31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, How shall we be clothed?
32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek: ) for your heavenly Father knows that you have need of all these things.
33 But seek you first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
Mythology says we fell from the Garden of Eden and have been cursed with the need to toil ever since. The forces of evil have sought power over our very toil, turning us into slaves either directly in the formal sense or by monopolizing access to work and controlling the modes of work, so that only as robots can we function in the world of “work”.
Worse, although this exile was a primal sundering and alienation from the source of our being and soul, the gravid Earth, we have been taught falsely to view this exile as a journey toward freedom, toward prosperity, toward knowledge and transcendence. Never has a more obscene Orwellian inversion been performed than this version of “Slavery is Freedom” which has been shouted from every false pulpit for thousands of years, and never with greater omnipresence and volume than in the modern today, the moment of fossil fuels.
The myth really means the exact opposite. Adam and Eve were organic and ecological in the Garden. They were integrated, elemental, primal. They lived as the lilies of the field. But Satan seduced them to desire the alleged knowledge which would make them as gods. Thus they broke the unity, broke the integration. The Original Sin was scientism itself, though it took several thousand years for this sin to become conscious of itself and celebrate itself as a sublimated Satanism. The original curse was the sundering of humanity from nature, the exile from the trees, the alienation.
Since then this same Satan has taught us to believe we must replace the primal foraging and horticulture, living with the lilies in the Garden, with the gruesome and destructive toil of industrial agriculture and its epigones in every economic, political, and cultural sector. Destructive of the Earth, destructive of our bodies, destructive of our souls.
The meaning and truth of the words of Jesus are unchanged if you remove “God” and replace ki with “the Earth”. Even the most fundamentalist secularist must make the same choice between faith in the Earth’s natural bounty or faith in the godhood of the engineer’s technology to render what it calls the sterility of the earth fertile. The natural fruit is truth, the artificial is a lie. This is the same truth and lie confronted by every religion including the religion of scientism and technocracy. There’s no real distinction between modern “enlightenment” and medieval darkness. All modes of thought have equal potential for light or dark, depending upon how they embrace the truth of ecology or the lies of Mammon and technocracy.
The same is true of Jesus’ injunction to his disciples, as he sends them out to minister:
Matthew 10:9 Provide neither gold, nor silver, nor brass in your purses,
10 Nor scrip for your journey, neither two coats, neither shoes, nor yet staves: for the workman is worthy of his meat.
Mark 6:8 [He] commanded them that they should take nothing for their journey, save a staff only; no scrip, no bread, no money in their purse:
9 But be shod with sandals; and not put on two coats.
These injunctions are addressed to us as well. We all need “take nothing”. If we lived in truth, true scientific knowledge, and moral good faith, nature’s bounty supplemented with agroecological knowledge and practice would feed us and sustain all desire for health and happiness. These passages refer to the true reclamation, healing the sundering breach and restoring humanity’s earthly connection. This is the true redemption and reunification. Agroecology and Food Sovereignty offer the promise of this revolution and restoration.
The true restoration and reclamation process is to be and live as ecologically as possible, in mind, soul and action. Expelled, we still can work in harmony with the Earth. This is the true imitation of the life in the Garden and also is the embodiment of the true science. Agroecology is the process of rendering agriculture and all of life more holistic, more organic, more integrated, more assimilated. Only through agroecology and its equivalents in every context can we overcome the alienation, imitate the Garden of Eden, present our work to God, history, or reason, however we envision, as proving we’ve learned the lesson, and in any case come as close as we can to paradise on Earth.
This does not mean lack of work, or especially lack of joy in the work we do for our own people. It means working only to guide Earth’s great abundance, to bring Earth’s profligate bounty, itself a free gift of the Earth itself, to a fruition most fruitful for a humanity who also is of the Earth and restores Earth even as we eat of it. The true productive work is the work of tending the natural abundance.
Do you want to produce food for human beings, or commodities and poison for corporate persons, a kind of demon? True work is the former, false perverted work the latter. The same is true in every other economic sector. Never has the very idea of food been so laden with symbolic religious significance as it has become in this modern age, because this is the most religious age of all. Food is literally and spiritually the core battleground and ground zero for the whole of the great climactic struggle for the soul of humanity, the realization of the future, the very existence of the past, and the question of whether there shall ever in the present be freedom and fulfillment. Shall we ever live as a natural one and whole in the present? The time has come where the only true work is the work of this great crisis.
As for the grinding conquistadors, they’re a pox.

Green Globalization, A Temporary Measure to Buy Time

Globalization is among other things the replacement of national and community sovereignty by corporate anti-sovereignty. Nationhood, democracy, community life are incompatible with the corporate pseudo-sovereignty. If you want corporate rule, as almost all Westerners do (proven by actions) you must destroy all the others. Nation, democracy, community as the triple targets of the “free trade” onslaught demonstrates how sovereignty itself can arise out of the people. We can deduce from this that the only way to defend either and maximize both is to eradicate corporations and elites completely. It’s democracy which must be maximized: Direct democracy.
The World Bank, IMF, WTO and so on, these are flunkeys, power launderers, stooge cadres. In America the real powers are Wall Street, the Republican and Democratic Parties, the weapons rackets, the agribusiness rackets, the IT rackets, and some other oligopoly players. These players concoct the “agreements” between “countries” which really are turf deals among gangster elites. (World War II is best seen as a gangland turf war where all the major participants were aggressors.) The politicians sign these agreements and set up special organizations like the WTO and IMF to serve as the enforcement arm. The WTO etc. as well as most of the Democrats and Republicans, are the hired goons. The “free” trade treaties are really corporate contracts written by the likes of Monsanto and Cargill. But these contracts aren’t actual agreements among free parties. They’re instruments of tyranny to be imposed by elite diktat from the top down, from the highest most concentrated power, as a hail of rocks, burning ash and poison upon the disenfranchised people below.
Globalization and corporate contracts are imposed through coercion. Where there’s a huge power and need differential between the parties, it’s impossible for them freely to contract with one another. Such contracts have no moral validity, and are supposed to have no legal validity. Freedom of contract is impossible under conditions of power or wealth inequality. But in practice the whole endeavor of corporate Mammon, corporate capitalism, neoliberalism, at every level from the basic employer-employee “negotiation” to the most global trade agreements, is to replace actual freedom of contract with these contracts-by-force. The very word “contract” implies coercion and violence. The goal is to destroy economic freedom and replace it with gangster-imposed and enforced protection rackets and direct plunder.
There’s the essence of globalization. The goal always has been to take what according to the capitalists’ own textbooks should be a small appendage of the economy and ruthlessly, recklessly, destructively impose its values and culture on all of life. Not just economic life, but political, social, cultural and private life as well. These values and culture really are psychopathy and decadent barbarism.
At the final stage of neoliberal corporate capitalism the elites impose financialization and manipulate it to amass all power and real assets. Their plan is to achieve total corporate dominion, the total surveillance state and militarized police state, the complete debt indenture of the population, and to maintain as much of their material luxury as possible under the conditions of fossil fuel depletion and ecological collapse. Their strategy has been to use the corporate form, the propaganda of “capitalism” and “democracy”, and the forms of representative pseudo-democracy, to monopolize ever growing portions of wealth and power. Having attained this position of dominance they now will use it to push the rest of us down into dark age shantytown police- and gang-afflicted conditions. Their preferred path for doing this will be debt slavery. If necessary they’ll try to use the police state whose skeleton they’ve already constructed, and even classical fascism.
As the climate crisis, mass extinction and general ecological collapse proceed, the political faction which pretends to want to do something about them will gain the upper hand with its “Green New Deal”, its promises of green capitalism, green metastatic cancer (AKA “growth”), green prodcutionism and consumerism, industrial-fake-renewables to continue to provide extreme energy consumption, and the rest of “the American way of life”. This will be sold as both the ecological and social panacea. The fact that it’s all a lie, that you can’t save the Earth by continuing to destroy it, that you can’t fix the socioeconomic evils of capitalism by doubling down on capitalism, won’t matter. The whole thing will be primarily a propaganda campaign, coupled with some temporary meager scraps thrown to the precariat and lumpenproles. The real purpose of this Green New Deal and any companion programs will be to buy time and perpetuate the global capitalist regime as long as possible while the elites consolidate their position for their plan to continue to rule as the rockslide of collapse gathers force and chaos. Just as the purpose of the original New Deal was to save capitalism, so today’s mainstream “green” proposals have only the purpose of saving capitalism and perpetuating the ecocidal binge. Big Green groups and progressive politicians are usually explicit about this.
And then the Green New Deal program also is sold within the framework of anti-human globalization, and as a way to preserve and intensify globalization. The globalization cadres and mechanisms such as the World Bank already have long been deeply immersed in the scam-mongering of “offset” regimes, the Clean Development Mechanism (“sustainable development” is just one of the many oxymorons we encounter), the REDD greenwash of ecocide, and others.
The mainstream climate-industrial movement will play a leading gatekeeper role here, doing all it can to ensure that the rising concern and fear and willingness among the people to take action for the Earth will remain kettled and controlled by astroturfs, will remain in the position of supplicating to the state (which is what all such “demands” on inherently ecocidal-genocidal governments boil down to), and will not break free of this domesticated reform mentality philosophically and in action in order directly to do what is necessary to assist Gaia’s Kinesis against these destroyers of the Earth while there’s still time and an ecological basis to sustain something of humanity as well as the more-than-human species now being driven extinct at an estimated rate of 200 a day.
While this general social misdirection is ongoing the elites will attempt the shift from direct fossil fuels to fossil-based alternate fuels, for the sake of maintaining their power and their luxury consumption. We’ve already seen a larger-scale version of this with the diversion of vast amounts of food from the already-hungry people of the world to the gas tanks of the Western personal car. This is the industrial agrofuel strategy. Just like all other liquidations, this one’s coming home as well. America itself already has ever growing numbers of the hungry while more and more corn is hijacked for agrofuels. Here we can see one iteration of the basic pattern I’ve called resource fascism. All notions of fake-industrial-renewables have the same basic goal. Picture a network of fortresses powered by the “smart grid”, biofueled private jets travelling between, while outside the walls permanently indentured debtors slave in the fields and sleep in shantytowns, their labor compelled by the draconian penalties dangling over the heads of all defaulters, their debt compounding every day. That’s the goal of the political and economic elites.
This is how is the barbed wire being strung around us.

Modern Reactionary Lust for Ancient Destruction

It’s typical that the earliest extant Western writing, the Epic of Gilgamesh inscribed in cuneiform, contains the earliest account of forest massacre, the mass murder of trees. Having defeated his enemy Humbaba, who among other things was steward of the great Mideast cedar forest, Gilgamesh celebrates his victory by hacking down the forest.
This is how Sumerian myth tried to account for how their forests somehow got destroyed, how they wrecked their fertile land and turned it into a desert: They passed the blame for their own rapacity onto a mythologized figure.
Thus we have the first Western documentation of how a Western civilization destroyed itself by destroying its forests. Many other examples have followed.
Today the modern global economic civilization is destroying all forests as fast and aggressively as possible, committing total ecocide and collective suicide as fast and aggressively as it can.
And as this civilization withers in its own broiling desert, who will it blame?*
Gaia’s Kinesis includes Earth’s direct backlash against modern civilization’s crimes. The great ecological manifesto Revelation describes this thruout. The Kinesis includes the death-wish of the civilization and its hyper-aggression against the Earth as it rushes over the cliff, and therefore much of it will be devastating to natural communities and to the least guilty among peoples, indigenous and impoverished frontline communities. This is being forced by the berserk insanity of Homo necropolitan, the “civilized”.
Reading by a Gaian interpretation, Revelation is not describing literally a god’s judgement and punishment, but is evoking the simple facts of what’s happening. It does include many literal ecological effects as well as much religious and moral symbolism transposing the modern biological war to the human cultural level.
The berserkers attack, damage, destroy, and the destruction redounds upon their own head and destroys them. Homo necropolitan won’t survive Gaia’s Kinesis, and there’s a decent chance the hominid species as such will become the apex victim of its own mass extinction and total ecocide assault. Certainly modern civilization won’t survive it.
We’ll look at one example depicting our present and near future, Revelation 16:1-9 as the seven angels emerge from the sky temple bearing the vials of the wrath of God, ready to pour them upon the orcs. Necessarily, this speaks only of what empirically is already happening and what common sense and science forecast is imminent. No one needs to feel it as religious prophecy unless that’s how they feel it.
1 And I heard a great voice out of the temple saying to the seven angels, Go your ways, and pour out the vials of the wrath of God upon the earth.
2 And the first went, and poured out his vial upon the earth; and there fell a noisome and grievous sore upon the men which had the mark of the beast, and upon them which worshipped his image.
The mark of the beast (Rev 13:16-17) is the mark of Mammon, the insignia of grinder producers and consumers, all who live to destroy the Earth (Rev 11:18), to buy and sell commodities, to worship money and to use it as a weapon of destruction. They farmed poison, they burned the air. Now the pandemics driven by industrial agriculture and global heating will afflict rich as well as poor. The complete poisoning of the air and water, the poisoned soil and food, the cancer and lung disease the rich long have inflicted on the poor and on the more-than-human world, these all now become noisome and grievous sores upon the rich as well. All must live or die on this Earth, and almost all have chosen to die upon it. They ratify their drenching amid the vial.
3 And the second angel poured out his vial upon the sea; and it became as the blood of a dead man: and every living soul died in the sea.
They flooded the seas with their farmed poisons, they dumped their factory and consumer waste, they heated the waters, they crammed carbon to turn the seas to acid, they infused every drop with oil solids, they generated vortexes of this plastic. They kill everything, they crash their own fisheries, they conjure the turbulence, they loft the waves, they drive the surges, they raise the seas themselves, they flood their own cities, they salt their own coastal lands and aquifers. Most of all they cripple the biggest arc of the carbon cycle and block off the most expansive resting place for carbon in physical form and in time. In the longer run this by far will be the greatest heating and chaotic feedback effect of all.
4 And the third angel poured out his vial upon the rivers and fountains of waters; and they became blood.
Here the poison flooding of the waters begins, the runoff from the poison farms, the poison lawns, the poison work zones, the poison roads, the poisoned rain. What non-poisoned water is left is stolen by the corporate demons and sold back to the people who bear money. The campaign of heating and chaos drives drought, what’s far more the mass murder of trees, the massacre of forests, brings the desert. The water flees away and is no more. They’ll all die of thirst.
5 And I heard the angel of the waters say, Thou art righteous, O Lord, which art, and wast, and shalt be, because thou hast judged thus. 6 For they have shed the blood of saints and prophets, and thou hast given them blood to drink; for they are worthy.
They were vampires always, parasites always, and always have murdered to get their blood. They destroy their own children’s water, they drink their own children’s blood.
8 And the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the sun; and power was given unto him to scorch men with fire.
The most direct self-inflicted global heating shall wipe out all agriculture and render vast spaces of Earth uninhabitable for hominids.
9 And men were scorched with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God, which hath power over these plagues: and they repented not to give him glory.
We know the berserker response. They blasphemed the name of Gaia who has power over all these plagues, they refused to live in balance, they fought as hard as they could to maximize the plagues, and they did not repent. They will not repent.
9:21 Nor did they repent of their murders, their sorceries, their immorality or their thefts.
They’ll flock to the second beast (Rev 13:11-17) for propaganda charades, mirages of “industrial renewables” and “sustainable development”, emission-and-sink shell games such as “Green New Deals” along with the long-running “offset”, “carbon neutral”,”zero net emissions” lies. They’ll opiate themselves with these while they follow the lead of the same Earth-destroying corporations, governments, militaries they’ve always followed.
16:11 And blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores, and repented not of their deeds.
All this is blasphemy in the name of the Earth. They won’t repent. Stripping away all the poses and lies, they’ll continue mass-producing, mass-consuming, mass-wasting, mass-destroying. They’ll continue being destroyers of the Earth unto their own collective suicide.
Those who Gaia would destroy she first makes insane.
Today we need the new stories, today’s consolation and inspiration, to be the affirmation amid all the tales of horror in tomorrow’s mythology. We need the stories of Gaia’s restoration to go with the stories of her Kinesis, her direct counterattacks, while most of all she drives the orcs to destroy themselves.
*I’m getting a pretty strong hunch who’s going to get most of the blame. More on that in coming posts.

Dominion of Lies and Insanity

Like Hitler this civilization is going to hunker in the bunker unto its own bitter, maximally destructive end. Meanwhile we have those who call for WWII-level mobilization, ostensibly to do something about the climate crisis. Many of them regurgitate the long lie that nature is waging war against civilization and that civilization needs to muster for total war in return. Thus we have the rhetoric of World War II mobilizations, the Manhattan Project, the Apollo space program. But I automatically distrust anyone who uses militaristic metaphors in environmental contexts unless the militarism is directed against the destroyers of the Earth. It reeks of Dominion theology, which remains rife throughout the mainstream environmental movement. Like the more conventional right-wing end-times frothing, this rhetoric among the mainstream environmentalists and “eco-modernists” is propaganda toward the corporate-theological agenda.
In reality it’s civilization itself, and especially the modern economic civilization, which is inherently ecocidal-genocidal and wages total aggressive war dedicated to exterminating all life on Earth including humanity. Gaia is indeed ramping up her ecological correction mechanism, but this is purely defensive. Much like how around the world there are many defensive political and military actions against US imperial aggression (which aggression many of the mainstream environmentalists also support).
How is it possible to look at an old-growth redwood or boreal or tropical rain forest and think a god who created such an ongoing miracle wants for hominids to destroy it? They think a god put it there merely for humans to use it as a “resource”? That’s not possible. If so this god wouldn’t have filled it with such innumerable life and made it so beautiful.
To say God gave you a resource in a forest or wetland or river is identical to saying this about other people as you enslave them. It’s evil. To put it in Christian terms, these are agents of Satan doing Satan’s bidding. Only Satan could look at a tree and want to cut it down.
Dominion theology is refuted by three simple facts:
1. If God wanted man to dominate nature, the result truly would be “reclamation” and the recovery of the orderly Garden of Eden. Instead the result invariably is chaos, disorder, destruction. From the point of view of Christian theology, an honest person would have to admit that extractive actions boost Satan’s dominion, not that of God.
2. If God created nature in order for it to be dominated and destroyed by man, this god never would have created such unfathomable biodiversity, such an infinite expanse of detail. On the contrary, the miraculous infinity of earthly life would prove to any truly religious person (except a Satanist) that God wanted humans to integrate harmoniously with nature, or at most to be a good and benevolent steward. (“Steward” is a more accurate translation of Genesis than “dominion”.)
3. Anyone who really thought the Rapture was imminent wouldn’t be concerned with material “resources” anyway. Those who truly believed the Rapture and/or the Second Coming was imminent would devote all their energies to preparing their souls. They’d have zero time or interest for temporal things like making money. Indeed, they’d consider it to be a bad time to indulge greed, violence, and all the other sins inherent in capitalism.
This proves that those who assert the end times are imminent, and that therefore there’s no reason not to destroy the Earth, are frauds and liars. They’re really either closet atheists or closet Satanists. When they invoke the Rapture what they really mean is, “Once we have enough money and guns and techno-gadgets we’ll be free of all social, political, economic, even physical restraints. It’ll be as if we were lifted bodily to heaven.”
This sums up the theology of capitalism, scientism, technocracy, Mammon, all coated with a fake neo-Christian veneer. They’ve long since been unable to sustain faith in de jure Christianity, but the temporal matrix of money, technology, power, violence, and ecological destruction seems to offer a synthetic substitute. They no longer believe in a God “up there”, but they still believe in the up-there itself and that they can take the place of this god.
Any true Christian, or any other sincerely religious person, would reject technocracy’s campaign to eradicate the original Creation and replace it with a purely artificial anti-ecological machine. It’s the Tower of Babel to a much greater extreme. This includes the summoning and worship of demons called “corporate persons”, and Mammon’s religious belief in the reality and sanctity of money.
Most of all it applies to the core mindset of the civilized: Biophobia, hatred of life. And it applies most of all to the core activity of civilization: Ecological destruction for the sake of destruction. Do we need the products of the destruction? No. An entire marketing industry and propaganda ministry have to work day and night to brainwash people into thinking they need these products. Do these products or their profits satisfy anyone or make anyone happy? No. The rich only obsess on how to become more rich, while everyone else, where not yet completely immiserated, becomes ever more anxious, diseased, angry.
There’s your proof: The destruction is for no rationally explicable purpose. The destruction is done purely for its own sake. That’s the religion of modern civilization. That’s the essence of Dominion.

The Pinyon-Juniper Ecocide

A core goal of modern civilization, as proven by its actions, always is to wipe out all uncontrolled natural life* and replace it with its own domesticated creations, social and technical/biological/genetic.**
[*Including human life: 1. All traditional peoples must be genocided, either culturally or physically. For example the Bolsonaro regime in Brazil is determined to complete this process in Brazil, while it remains ongoing at a more gradual pace in the US and Canada.
2. Among the civilized as well, anyone not fully regimented socially and biologically is targeted for eradication, one way or another.]
[**Thus the genetic engineering campaign, the goals of which are: 1. Replace all conventionally bred crops with GM crops. 2. Escalate the omnicidal assault of poison-based agriculture. 3. Use GM crops as PR stalking horse for GM-based livestock and pet eugenics. All existing domestic animals are to be replaced by GM animals while all wild animals are to be eradicated. Already over 90% of the world’s mammal biomass is hominids and their livestock. 4. Use this GM regime as stalking horse for GM-based human eugenics. Eventually all hominids are to be engineered and physically coupled with machinery.
Throughout the campaign, the goal always is total control and domination. Natural and wild is anathema and must be exterminated. Socially and conventionally domesticated is good. Technologically domesticated is much better.
This is a big part of the reason why the genetic engineers and their cult fanboys never care about the fact that GMOs, crop or animal, don’t work and that every claim made for them is a lie: These claims really are nothing but propaganda and have nothing to do with the real domination goals.]
This extends even to the most marginal habitat. The orcs’ fondest desire always is to destroy the desert community and replace it with agriculture (or, more recently, solar electricity factories). No one really thinks the pinyon-juniper forest habitat can be suitable for these, but it can be made the target of expanded industrial grazing. Thus after the government uses public money to physically destroy the forest it salts the earth with herbicides and plants forage grass. All pure corporate welfare to accompany the ecocide. Yet this too is a scam. In reality the most common successor in a pinyon-juniper destruction zone is invasive, inedible, highly flammable cheatgrass. So even grazing is a bogus rationale for the pinyon-juniper massacre.
The pinyon-juniper forest has been the primary natural community of the Great Basin for millions of years. It flourished long before invasive Western hominids with their invasive cattle came along. Yet twice in modern times – in the latter 19th century and again in the decades following World War II – it has been subject to extreme logging and burning. In recent years the US government has undertaken a third exterminationist campaign, dedicated to the complete eradication of the forest and all its inhabitants right down to the last individual trees.
This is the destruction of a vibrant natural community which supports a wide range of wildlife as well as being a great fount of food, medicine and craft materials for such traditional peoples as the Shoshone, Paiute, Goshute, Cahuilla, Havasupai, Hopi and Kawaiisu.
The pinyon-juniper forest is critically important for maintaining the physical cohesion of the soil and retaining the scarce moisture of the arid region. It is superbly adapted to its environment and its loss always brings on ecological havoc.
Today as in the past this havoc is being wrought by the assaults of the government’s Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and various economic interests, especially cattle grazers.
“The BLM “treatments” in the Great Basin, both proposed and ongoing, include “lop and drop,” mastication, herbicides and chaining. Chaining involves attaching a huge anchor chain from a battleship between two tractors and dragging it along the desert floor, ripping trees and bushes from the ground, wrecking delicate soil crusts, and killing or injuring countless other creatures in their dens, nests and hideouts. The extent of the damage is unknown, as it is not being adequately tracked.”
This massacre goes on for zero rationally explicable benefit to anyone. The government gives such bogus justifications as reducing erosion (but ripping up the roots and soil greatly increases erosion) and reducing wildfires (but the natural fire cycle of the forest is as much as hundreds of years, while the cheatgrass which colonizes the destruction zone is extremely flammable; the ecocide greatly increases the fires).
In tandem with corporate “environmental” front groups the government has touted the destruction as part of a program to build habitat for the beleaguered sage grouse. This came after the Obama administration denied the science and refused to list the grouse under the Endangered Species Act. The government’s claim to be building new sage habitat by destroying the forest is meant to make it look like there’s no need to list the grouse under the Act.
Nothing could be more fraudulent than this. The government also is waging a war of extermination against the sagebrush habitat of the grouse, which is why the bird is endangered. Free-ranging cattle regularly trample the nesting grounds of the bird and wipe out the chicks. Large numbers of grouse also are killed by collisions with the fences the ranchers strew all over the plain.
So the alleged program to assist the sage grouse by destroying the pinyon-juniper forest and having good sage habitat somehow succeed it is nothing but obfuscation***, trying to cover for the fact that the government and the ranchers are dead set on wiping the bird out. Meanwhile the forest grows mostly in steep, rugged, arid regions which would be unsuitable for the grouse even if the program was sincere. And in reality the government has never attempted to create a single acre of grouse-appropriate habitat. On the contrary, wherever the government destroys the forest it tries to replace it with yet more cattle-grazing territory.
[***Probably a standard “offset” scam as well. The climate-industrial movement always has been very accommodating of ecocide in this way.]
The most demented and Orwellian part of the propaganda links the extermination campaign with the fake version of the “invasive” ideology. The government tells a tower of lies in order to deny the historical range of the pinyon-juniper forest so that it can represent the trees as “native-invasive”. In reality the forest has only been resuming its natural range since the second, mid-century eradication campaign abated. Far from being any kind of destructive invasive, the forest has again stabilized the destabilized soil and restored critical wildlife habitat for a whole natural community. This is hateful in the eyes of the destroyers of the Earth, which is the real reason they’ve mobilized for a third campaign of exterminating the forest.
The “anti-invasive” ideology, where it’s unanchored from any reality-based measure of whether a non-native actually is acting ecologically or harmfully, is anti-science and always masks the most rapacious ecocide. This is doubly true in the absurd case of referring to native species as “native-invasive”, as the government is doing with the pinyon-juniper forest. While in theory it might be possible for a native to run rampant among disrupted or destroyed natural communities, in reality this almost never happens. On the contrary, the epithet “invasive” is bestowed only upon species, non-native or not, which are inconvenient for some powerful interest.
Meanwhile the most incontrovertibly destructive invasives – ecocidal hominids, their industrial livestock, their commodity agricultural crops – are never called invasive. But if an honest person were to talk about destructive invasives, they’d have to start, continue, and finish with these.
And so we have the record, as clear-cut as the bulldozer-chained war zones: The war on the pinyon-juniper forest wrecks the ecology, is devastating to wildlife, is propagandistically part of the campaign to wipe out the endangered sage grouse, destroys the soil, spews carbon into the air, greatly increases the incidence of wildfire, wipes out a rich source of food and medicine for people, and doesn’t even attain its proximate goal of generating more rangeland, wherever the inedible invasive cheatgrass monopolizes the succession. All this is being done at a massive financial loss to the public.
As climate chaos inflicts drought over ever greater expanses, drought-tolerant forest like the pinyon-juniper will become ever more critical. The fact that the US government, including bipartisan executive and legislative consensus, is determined to completely eradicate this forest type is proof that the government and both parties are intrinsic climate deniers, and that they’re determined to drive the climate crisis to its absolute worst. Of course all their actions prove this, but the eradication of the pinyon-juniper forest is so pointless, so egregious as to be one of the purely stark events laying bare the absolute insanity and biophobia of this economic and political system.
What does it mean to engage in such relentless murderous destruction, for no reason, systematically lying every step of the way? This is a most clear case of destruction for the sake of destruction, ecocide for the sake of ecocide. When we contemplate the scale of the aggression, the Nazi mindset against the trees, we see the lust for pure destruction. To destroy arid-zone natural communities and replace them with herbicide-policed invasive grasses to be grazed only by livestock while all other animal and plant life perishes always is a value in itself, without reference to any actual efficiency or profit, to use the capitalists’ own shibboleths; this also is why the US Forest Service always is willing to auction off logging licence at a huge financial loss to the public, let alone the physical, biological, genetic loss – they’re ideologically committed to the total destruction of all natural forest and to keeping all land with trees in a constant state of sterile monoculture plantation enslavement, domination, control, and artificial destruction.
As we see in the case of the pinyon-juniper, they also retain reactionary notions of wiping out the food sources and culture of the First Nations and forestalling any foragers. And as a gnarly forest growing in remote arid regions, not like the charismatic Amazon or Tongass (not that their charisma does any practical much to protect them either), here the orc vermin can indulge their eco-hatred and violence to the ultimate extreme without having to endure even political criticism.
The obvious solution for a sane, decent society would be to abolish industrial grazing. This would simultaneously save the sage grouse and the greater natural communities of the sagebrush and the pinyon-juniper forest. It would conserve an important carbon sink. It would let the ecology control erosion, water flow and fire. It would be a great boon to wildlife. It would offer us a potentially abundant food and medicine source which will be crucial for the collapsing future. The same would be true for every natural habitat being destroyed across the entire rangeland.
And it is precisely hatred of all this goodness, of all these benefits, hatred of life itself which motivates the orcs of the US government.

Cause the Problem, Sell the (Fake) Solution

GMOs help cause this and cannot help fix it
As climate chaos worsens, over most of the world drought tolerance will become an ever more critical trait for food crops. Conventional breeding on a regional basis for agroecological horticulture is the great need and is proven to be the only framework which is effective. Industrial agriculture is doomed to collapse for any of all of its many intrinsic fatal flaws: Fossil fuel dependency; fossil water dependency; fossil phosphorus and potassium dependency; soil toxification, malnourishment and physical erosion; the destruction of the genetic base of crops; the rising strength of pests and diminishing possibilities for combatting them; global heating which suppresses more yield for every degree of temperature rise; the general collapse of the ecology upon which monoculture agriculture is completely dependent. Corporate crop varieties geared to commodity production are developed for a system which has no future and offers no guidance for what needs to be done.
Even within the industrial commodity framework conventional breeding is proven to be superior to genetic engineering in every way, especially where it comes to agronomic traits like drought tolerance. Here the record has been clear for many years: Conventional breeding works and GM does not.
As is typical, most governments have not listened to the facts or conformed to reality, and so subsidies, regulatory approvals and mainstream media propaganda campaigns have emphasized GM drought tolerance as yet another way GMOs are going to “feed the world”, however much of a lie that is in detail and overall.
GM-based drought tolerance has been a special feature of the propaganda for the Monsanto-Syngenta-Gates Foundation colonial assault on Africa. Several African governments have approved these corporate products for cultivation in spite of their proven agronomic inferiority and socioeconomic and ecological malignity.
So it’s a significant victory for food sovereignty, democracy and deep ecology that the South African government has rejected Monsanto’s application to commercialize one of its so-called “drought tolerant” products:
“After more than 10 years of battling Monsanto’s “bogus” drought tolerant maize project, the African Centre for Biodiversity (ACB) has welcomed the decision by the Minister of Agriculture, Ms Thoko Didiza, upholding the decision by the Executive Council: GMO Act and the appeal board to reject Monsanto’s application for the commercial cultivation of its triple-stacked “drought-tolerant” GM maize seed.
This landmark decision is a win for the ACB and other civil society organisations on the continent that have resisted the introduction of these GM varieties in South Africa, Mozambique, Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.
The Minister’s decision was made following the failure of the GM varieties to increase yield under drought conditions during repeated field trials in South Africa.”
The notion of “drought-resistant GMOs” is one of the most common PR scams found in pro-GMO propaganda. Along with similar hoaxes like golden rice and the GM Kenyan sweet potato, the purpose of the drought-resistant GMO trope is to misdirect attention from the fact that GMOs were created for no reason other than to sell poison. The two kinds of GMOs which actually exist on a significant economic level are those tolerant of herbicides, and those which generate their own Bt insecticidal poison in every plant cell. These also consistently fail in the field.
Drought-tolerance, on the other hand, along with traits like real pest and disease resistance, salt tolerance, improved nutrition, and improved nitrogen uptake, is solely the province of non-GM conventional breeding. This breeding, like any other, builds upon the accumulated work of thousands of years of farmer breeding, a collective human heritage. This status was reinforced in the 20th century, as all significant modern crop breeding was done using public money. Anything corporations do with this heritage is at most a minuscule contribution to a monumental and ongoing collective human project. That’s part of the reason it’s morally and rationally impossible for seed patents to have any legitimacy.
At best modern commodity breeding is a person standing on the shoulder of a giant. This “at best” is 100% within the realm of non-GM conventional breeding. A “drought-resistant” GMO, on the other hand, is nothing but a drought-resistant conventional variety which has one or more of the poison-enabling transgenes inserted. Thus we have the conventionally drought-resistant variety with an added Roundup Ready and/or Bt trait extraneously added. This then fraudulently is called a “drought-resistant GMO.”
The corporate GMO propaganda sounds especially bogus when we take into account the fact that of all economic sectors the industrial agriculture/food system is the primary driver of the climate crisis. Any big corporation, especially an agribusiness concern, which offers any sort of product touted as part of climate mitigation or adaptation, is engaging in straight disaster capitalism, seeking to profit off the crisis they themselves take the lead role in driving and having caused in the first place.
They [agribusiness] cause the problem [industrial agriculture is #1 driver of the climate crisis which is driving changing chronic drought and extreme drought events], then want to sell you the solution [drought tolerant maize], which doesn’t even work [the technology fails to produce greater yield under drought conditions] and is harmful in itself [as a typical GMO it drives escalated pesticide use; drives the crisis of antoibiotic resistant bacteria (ABR) through its use of a antibiotic resistance marker in the development process, as well as contributing to herbicide-driven ABR ; GM-driven mutations are never legitimately tested for safety].
Such “solutions” based on profit-seeking product and hi-maintenance technology also work to reinforce the technocrat ideology, that drought and farmer dependency aren’t socioeconomic and political problems but purely technical ones to be solved only by technology deployed by technocrats. But again this is precisely the mindset that has caused and driven the crises all along. No part of this framework can ever be anything but counterproductive and destructive, just as there can be no constructive action which doesn’t include rejecting and breaking free of this framework.
This particular example is typical of the overall economy and civilization which causes the climate crisis and general ecological crisis, then wants to sell you the solution of “green” capitalism, green hi-maintenance tech, technocratic carbon-trading schemes and “carbon neutral”, “offset”, “zero net carbon” regimes. These are solutions which don’t work (for over thirty years they’ve been deployed in various places and invariably are proven to be failures and often scams; overall emissions keep rising and accelerating their rate of rise, atmospheric carbon keeps rising and at increasing rate, deforestation and ecocide continue to rampage, often with the direct encouragement of climate policy as in the case of the Paris accord’s drive to accelerate deforestation by escalating subsidies for burning of wood pellets for electricity, biofuel, and heating*, aka the “biomass” scam/atrocity; plus the whole concept of “industrial renewables” is a fraud in that it remains completely dependent upon a fossil fuel foundation) and are harmful in themselves (industrial fake-renewables directly require massive mining destruction, poisoning of water and the environment, and then the electricity is put to harmful uses; hydroelectric generation is founded upon the enslavement of rivers and massacre of river ecological communities, most notoriously wiping out salmon; the whole concept is designed to prop up the inherently ecocidal economic system).
We see the overall recursive pattern. From the grandest “Green New Deal” perspective to the nitty-gritty detail of a particular product like Monsanto thirst-corn, this system offers nothing but malign scams designed to prop up profitable cancer/growth capitalism and herd the sheep away from real ideas and real work for the good.
There’s an endless number of such scams. They cause the problem then want to sell you the snake oil, while slandering and where possible forcibly suppressing the real cure. In the case of the climate crisis this means:
End all industrial emissions; stop destroying carbon sinks; allow all natural sinks to resume their natural ranges.
All else is a lie.
*Heating is done effectively in a low-impact way through passive solar and using the underground as a thermostat. Industrial electricity and fuel are inherently ecocidal, there is no sustainable or “eco-friendly” way to produce or consume them, we don’t need them, and would be better off spiritually and socioeconomically without them.

The Zombie Climate of Civilization

Here’s the kind of renewable ecocide the mainstream climate movement loves
Why did the mainstream climate movement fail? To understand this we first need to understand what this movement was, where it came from, why it was confected, what it was really trying to accomplish.
Look in the corporate media and its “alt” followers and you’ll see a new surge of interest and excitement around the climate-industrial movement. With Greta Thunberg and Extinction Rebellion we have a new injection, a new brand, a new chic. This seeming rejuvenation of the hoary mainstream comes at the same time as new ideas are rising, as a small but growing movement of writers, activists, and scientists is saying that the mainstream movement has failed, that its ideology and goals were all wrong in the first place, that its forecasts always have been grossly distorted to the linear and optimist side which is why its forecasts so consistently are outstripped by events, and that the prescriptions of the mainstream are absurdly insufficient to meet the crisis as well as destructive in themselves.
From the perspective of ecological fact and all of modern history, what’s happening is nothing but the attempted resurrection and zombification of a corpse. Thunberg is being used as figurehead for the same old lineup of corporate NGOs while Extinction Rebellion, for all its direct action, is dedicated to kettling all action within the capitalist framework and the framework of making “demands” on the very governments driving the destruction as fast as they can as hard as they can. Indeed a modern government can be defined pretty well as a way to organize a society for the maximum destruction of the Earth.
So there’s our two big movements of the moment, both sheep-herders on behalf of the destroyers of the Earth. It’s clear that we have here yet another manifestation of the “reform” faction within the organized crime framework. Reformed ecocide, green ecocide.
It’s said to be above all a children’s crusade, but if these are children confronting neglectful, abusive parents (a mainstay of the new propaganda), these children certainly don’t reject or break with these parents or any aspect of these parents’ teaching and practice. This is most immediately obvious in the purely consumerist character of the ideology, “demands”, and actions of this movement.
We have zombie consumerist reformism in a world where all reformism is long since dead though its zombie adherents don’t know it yet. All for the inherently ecocidal-genocidal civilization.
It’s all based on the lie propagated by the IPCC that civilization still has a “carbon budget” (such capitalist-technocratic verbiage) to work with, when in fact civilization has been deep into the red for many years now. The debt keeps mounting and the bill is about to come due in full.
Throughout the thirty years of the climate movement’s existence, throughout the UNFCCC period, carbon emissions have continued to escalate, and have escalated at an increasing rate. Emissions will continue to climb rapidly because everyone (except for a few of us fugitive Earth First!ers and primalists), including the mainstream climate activists and virtue signalers, never will give up their worthless junk and their decadent luxuries and comforts. The carbon concentration will continue to skyrocket until the economic civilization collapses or destroys itself. No one, and least of all the mainstream movement, will do anything to stop the emissions. That’s why a fraud like Paris – based on fake numbers and whose goals are voluntary anyway – appeals to them so much. It gives them the fake feeling of “doing something” while not actually having to anything at all.
Thus the whole congregation keeps holy rolling with hymns to “1.5 degrees” (or the Paris-enshrined 2 degrees, depending on which establishment climate preacher one follows), dispensing the old snake oil (and of course palm oil). Yet reality of the paleoclimatic evidence says the last time the global atmospheric carbon concentration was above 400PPM, as it has been for several years now, the global temperature was 5-10 degrees higher than now. That much heating already is locked in, although temperatures will take some time to catch up to millions of years worth of carbon increase compressed into a hundred year deluge.
Civilization never will restrain itself, only the limits and counteractions of the Earth will forcibly restrain civilization by destroying it, if it doesn’t destroy itself first.
Almost all political and fake-political Americans agree with George Bush that “the American way of life is non-negotiable”. The American way of life: Extreme consumption, extreme production, extreme energy, capitalism, cancer-“growth”. Where it comes to the climate crisis they differ only on what kind of denial to make the basis of their propaganda: From straight de jure denial to various green-capitalist, “sustainable development”, “green growth” scams. These all boil down to the same homicidal-suicidal denial. This is because they would rather die and bring down all life with them than give up “the American way of life”.
The mainstream climate movement adheres to a basic technocratic-authoritarian ideology:
1. Statism: The movement must supplicate before governments. That’s what they mean by “make demands”. Everything must be thought and done within this official hierarchical framework.
2. Scientism: The reason to become active for the climate is not for any earthly biological, spiritual, aesthetic, moral reason, but because Big Science says so. Indeed, from the rhetoric of movement cadres one often gets the sense that the very purpose of climate action and concern isn’t for the sake of the Earth or humanity, but to pay fealty and obeisance to Science. This dovetails perfectly with the real primary purpose of the climate-industrial movement which is to prop up productionism and capitalism for as long as possible and to divert all focus and action from the need for radical degrowth.
To be clear, the human wrangle over the climate crisis has nothing to do with science. It’s a political, ideological, spiritual, biological struggle. Nearly 100% of climate scientists hold the ideology that nothing about the Extreme Energy Civilization should be changed other than its mode of extreme energy production. Their solution, which they dispense to the broader movement, is to continue doing everything driving the ecological crisis, just a greenwashed version: Green capitalism, green cancer (“growth”), Keep Shopping, Keep Driving, more hi-maintenance tech but “better”, keep generating extreme ecocidal energy but in a fake-“renewable” way. Look up anyone’s prescription. Most infamously, the sainted James Hansen is well embarked upon his new career as a nuke shill. Another “hero” turned buffoon.
This movement touts only capitalism because they really only want to save capitalism, so the only solutions they recognize are “solutions” within the capitalist/productionist framework. These solutions are all lies. None will halt the onslaught, and almost all only add to the ecological and socioeconomic destruction.
And this brings us to the new brand of the old failed product. The Thunberg-figureheaded campaign is similar to a color revolution. The architects of the campaign are many of the same corporate NGOs which have engineered various forms of regime change campaigns around the world. It’s a corporate confection engineered from the top down and publicized by the corporate media, has zero grassroots character, zero bona fide movement character. It’s a classic astroturf. As many (including myself) have pointed out, if the corporate media is giving something good publicity, that’s proof it’s either an astroturf or at any rate tame and lame enough as to be no threat. Quite the contrary – it’s a means of co-opting and draining away any potential activist energy.
The reason for these new and highly publicized campaigns is that the corporate-NGO management of the climate-industrial movement is becoming worried by the accumulating failure of all of their own anodyne climate forecasts, the growing consciousness of the Sixth Mass Extinction Event and how it is accelerating, the growing consciousness that the climate crisis is just one element of a general ecological crisis being caused directly by the economic civilization which bestows such privilege on these persons and organizations, and the rising sense that the mainstream movement is running a giant con, or at best is woefully insufficient in every way, and that nothing short of radical degrowth and the dismantling of the Extreme Energy Civilization and industrial electricity generation as such can suffice. In response to all this they’re engineering this new propaganda campaign to renew faith in the Big Lie of green capitalism, green cancer, industrial renewables, electric cars, and the whole rest of the malign set which can be summed up as, green ecocide. They do it all because they’re part of the ecocidal civilization and act in accord with what this civilization is.
The militarist invocations which so easily slide from the tongues and pens of those spewing Green New Deal propaganda – we need a World War Two mobilization, a Manhattan Project (especially appropriate since so many of the climate crocodiles fetishize nukes) an Apollo campaign – are typical. Massive transformations, massive deployments, Tower of Babel, mitigate ecocide by doubling down on the direct cause of ecocide, all things must be big and bigger and biggest, all natives of the Big Lie that ecocidal industrial “renewable energy” can support itself when in reality it’s always completely dependent upon a foundation of fossil fuels. This is true both physically – the entire process, from extraction to transportation to the plastics and many other components of the machinery, requires fossil fuels – and economically – industrial wind and solar never have supported themselves economically any more than nukes have, they always require massive government subsidy. And where does the wealth for such subsidies come from? Only from the fossil-fueled Extreme Energy Economy. So it’s no surprise that those who promise to perpetuate this civilization but with renewables in place of fossil fuels surreptitiously intend to remain fully fossil-dependent.
And all this is in order to perpetuate all the ecological and social evils of the industrial/hi-maintenance-tech/production-consumption Extreme Civilization.
But this civilization is inherently ecocidal and genocidal. And as the rhetorical and ideological militarism of the WWII-fantasizing climate-industrial movement implies, this movement and corporate environmentalism in general are just another sect embracing the Dominion theology. To this “war on nature” mentality, the climate crisis is latent in nature’s war on humanity and civilization must respond accordingly. Only this can explain “environmentalists” who fantasize about multiplying the horrific mining destruction required for fake-renewables by many orders of magnitude, generating hundreds more vast death zones like the Alberta tar sands desolation, engulfing and poisoning such vast amounts of water as to make fracking look frugal, not to mention those who fetishize nukes and those most rabid psychopaths of all, those who want to deploy geoengineering, all this for something so tawdry and worthless as to perpetuate the soul-killing car-enslaved consumer society. Such insanity can only derive from the underlying lust to wage war on the Earth and dominate it rather than submit to Earth’s orchestration and harmonies. It can arise only from the most unreconstructed reactionary human supremacism. It can arise only from those who still see Earth, including the vast majority of humanity, as nothing but a resource mine and waste dump. This is the essence of the religion of the economic civilization, modern Mammon.
It’s perhaps best epitomized by this movement’s ongoing cult of the car, one of the pure evils of modernity. Ecologically, socially, in terms of public health, the car has zero redeeming qualities and is purely destructive. The existence of the car is incompatible with any meaningful climate solution or general environmental solution. But our mainstream “environmentalists” are committed to perpetuate the car and the propaganda of the car, “electric” or “hybrid” of course. But a fracking/coal/nuke/dead salmon car is just as bad as a gasoline car. Right there that proves their bad faith on every level.
Indeed, this type of mainstream extreme-impact corporate environmentalism is in many ways just what the de jure deniers say it is, just another thug faction seeking power.*
[*If you’re saying “We’re destroying the Earth and need to stop”, yet in the same breath you say “We need to continue doing exactly the same things we’ve been doing, just a ‘green’ version” which looks suspiciously like business as usual (and you prove you mean it by continuing every kind of gratuitous hi-impact action in your professional and personal life), that’s no vision at all. It’s no surprise that those who haven’t embraced the cult of green capitalism, the Green New Deal and the rest of the climate-industrial program sense a scam, nor that many of them come to doubt the existence of the crisis itself.
The fact is that the “conspiracy theory” of the rank-and-file de jure denialists (as opposed to the purely mercenary ones) is correct: Various corporate and political scammers are using the idea of the climate crisis to push their power agendas. Where the denialists go wrong is to take the illogical and false extra step of denying the climate phenomenon itself.
But this is actually a sign of stupidity, that one is incapable of simultaneously holding two simple thoughts:
1. The climate crisis is real and is driven by human action.
2. There are factions within the political class organizing political scams around it.]
No – all the themes and prescriptions of the climate-industrial movement are lies. Their hi-maintenance tech is what drives the crisis. Their capitalism. Their extreme production and consumption. Their extreme energy generation and use.
The only solution is much less technology, much lower technology, VASTLY less energy use. Anything which is hi-energy, hi-impact, and unnecessary (almost everything hi-energy and hi-impact is unnecessary) must stop. The rare things which are necessary, do them in the lowest-energy, lowest-impact way possible. Obviously we need to look to the pre-fossil era. Radical degrowth.
Needless to say things like the car are existentially incompatible and are not part of any seriously meant prescription.
Everything they touch is damaged or destroyed. Any intervention of theirs is destructive. The one and only good thing they can do is stop, refrain, leave alone, withdraw, go away. Any “solution” which involves adding intervention to intervention is a lie. It’ll do nothing but escalate the destruction.
There is one and only one set of three actions which can avert the worst of the climate crisis, if done in time. If not, and civilization certainly will not do them, then Earth’s kinesis will do its worst as it imposes all three by force. These three actions are:
End all industrial emissions; stop destroying carbon sinks; allow all natural sinks to resume their natural ranges.
All else is a lie.

The Tree-Human Carbon War

The natural forest is the most capacious terrestrial carbon sink, and therefore the most important land-based element which must be conserved complete. (See below for the necessary three points of climate action.*)
Trees grab vast amounts of carbon from the air. Through photosynthesis all plants remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and incarnate it as biomass. When plants die under natural conditions much of their embodied carbon is assumed by the forest soil, wetland muck, grassland sod.
Although some of the carbon embodied in a naturally decomposing tree is released again to the air as carbon dioxide, most is stored in the soil. The microbes and the rain work it deeper where it becomes organic humus, inert in the soil. Given the right conditions it eventually will be concentrated into coal. Fallen trees submerged under wetlands eventually turn to peat, storing nearly all their carbon.
The older the tree, the faster it grows. The bigger its biomass, the more rapidly it accrues more biomass. The older the tree, the more carbon it continues to remove from the atmosphere.
All this assumes an intact natural forest keeping the soil cool, with the trees living out their full natural life cycles.
This process of carbon removal and storage is necessary in order to maintain life on Earth. The sun’s luminosity has increased c. 30% since life began on Earth. This increased brightness over time is part of the normal life cycle of stars like Earth’s sun. Over this time span the Earth ought to have heated up dramatically.
Yet the geological and fossil record confirms that Earth temperatures have stayed relatively stable over three billion years. Indeed in recent geological time there’s even been a cooling trend.
This is prime evidence for the Gaia thesis, that the biosphere as a great collective organism regulates Earth’s temperature, among many other things where a stable value is necessary for life. Gaia has counteracted the increasing brightness of the sun. Her main mechanism has been the removal of carbon from the atmosphere and its storage in rock, in soil, and in biomass. The main mid-term mode of removal is the extraction and storage of carbon by plants, especially trees. Thus the atmospheric carbon concentration is now one ninth of what it was during the Carboniferous Period.
In the modern time this process forcibly was halted. Modern civilization embarked upon a campaign of total destruction of all natural forests and wetlands and their replacement by tree plantations where the trees are crops harvested for lumber and burned for electricity and heat.
This destruction causes a great hemorrhage of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. When wood is burned it directly releases its embodied carbon. Wherever the natural forest is destroyed this exposes the soil to the sun, which heats it and accelerates its microbial decomposition. The microbes now consume even the deeper humus, and all the sunk carbon is released. So burning wood is a double emission of carbon dioxide. The hemorrhage is even worse where a combined forest-wetland system is destroyed.
Thus the whole “carbon neutral” notion surrounding logging and “biomass” burning, beloved alike of both industry and the mainstream climate movement, is a scam greenwashing a monumental crime against the Earth including humanity. All attempts to justify industrial logging and destruction of forests are based on fraudulent accounting. This includes lies about the alleged superior vigor of fast-growing young trees (60-120 years old, the age range where most plantation trees are logged) in seizing carbon. This lie is standard dogma in corporate forestry. But as we said above, the science has found that the older the tree is, the greater the rate at which it’s incarnating carbon.
All these scams are not only refuted in detail, but the entire framework ideology is overridden by the fact that the great necessity is to sink carbon and keep it sunk. This imperative self-evidently is incompatible with the continuation of industrial logging and the destruction of natural forests and wetlands.
From this we can conclude that not only industry but any element of the climate-industrial movement which is willing to support any continued deforestation and any continued commodity exploitation of trees is a complete fraud and criminal where they claim to be acting to mitigate the climate crisis.
The fact that even its own mainstream environmental movement is ecocidal is just one piece of proof that modern civilization is intrinsically ecocidal. What does all this frantic destruction mean in this case, and in the context of the broader case of the wholesale burning of fossil fuels? The orcs are determined to release all the stored carbon. They want to restore Carboniferous conditions, which coupled with the much brighter sun would turn Earth’s greenhouse into a universal crematorium.
This frenzied berserker action seeks maximum entropy in the same way any waste heat does. Heat seeks to dissipate to maximum equilibrium, where the physical end state is the heat death of the universe. Only the storage of potential energy, such as the storage Gaia’s trees perform with carbon, conserves heat and therefore conserves the conditions necessary for life, which requires the recycling of heat.
We see that Homo necropolis, civilized hominids, in their derangement to release all the stored heat, are seeking universal death.
They systematically pump the air as full of greenhouse gases as they can, as fast as they can, with the goal of heating up the Earth as much as possible as fast as possible, generating as much climate chaos and ecological destruction as possible. Modern civilization has complete consensus on this campaign. (The fake climate movement’s purpose is nothing but to tout various scams, each of which boils down to the promise that the ecocidal binge can continue, that you can destroy the Earth and live on it too.)
The individual orcs and their institutional ideologies invent surface reasons why they’re doing it. Consciously the berserker civilization thinks only in terms of Mammon. Underlying this is their real idea: Earth is in the midst of the Ice Age. Civilization owes its existence to a brief interglacial interlude which it has christened the Holocene. But when civilization discovered it could release the stored carbon by burning all the fossil fuels and destroying all ecological carbon-storage function, it conceived the insane vision of reversing the course of climatic evolution, rolling back the Ice Age and restoring Paleozoic temperature conditions. This is the goal of civilization’s global binge of total ecocide.
But maximum entropy is maximum death. At the deepest level they know their nightmare-dream is impossible. Hominids are fragile creatures, and their civilization hopelessly so. Biophobia really is rooted in the human hatred of origins, which forcibly imply a forcible history which cannot be rolled back but must be traversed unto forcible death. That’s why humans hate the bacteria which created, sculpted, form and dominate them to this day. That’s why they hate the trees which were their proximate cradle. That’s why from the moment they came down from the trees, humans so often have chosen not to evolve according to nature but to break the vessels, sunder themselves, and go to war against their own homeland. It’s a war against the very idea of this origin, and a Numenorean resentment of the fact of death: The death of individual, species, and most of all the death of their vain idol, civilization. For this reason, since they must die, they hate all life and want universal death.
At the opposite extreme, the trees, cradle of humanity itself, remain tightly synched with the primal bacterial and fungal networks of Gaia. Although in one sense complex beings, the trees at the same time are among the most primal, part of the very pulse of Gaia.
So it’s the most primal beings against the most sundered, most alienated, most self-loathing and therefore omnicidal. So it’s life versus death in a war to store or spew carbon and therefore to control or debouch heat. The trees feel driven to conserve the heat. They want to save everyone, including us.
And that’s why the orcs always have hated the forest, always wanted to hack it down, and why even today’s climate movement prefers plantations to forest. But plantations hemorrhage, they don’t conserve. Thus all orcs want to replace the forest with the plantation, in mockery as well as expectation of suicidal victory.
