Ten Years

Today’s the tenth birthday of this blog. This is post # 1,237. Looking back at March 20th, 2009 I see that I posted six times on that first day. Most or all of those I’d previously posted as “diaries” at Chris Martenson’s site. Four are about Wall Street, one on globalization, and one on the fake climate movement. So I knew where I was headed from day one.

My first budding principle as a child, my first thought which as a child came intuitive, instinctive, something innate responding to what I saw of reality, which later would become a philosophical and spiritual principle…

I saw that nature is transcendent, beautiful and fulfilling, a value in itself, its healthy and whole existence is as important for humans as for every other species, and that the way humans are destroying it is horrific, evil, insane beyond the capacity of words to convey.

That was my first spirit thought, my first philosophy. In the end I feel it always remained my only underlying thought.

And I heard the scream of Gaia. At the time I heard it as a cry of despair. I got older and for many years I tried not to hear the scream. For many years I tried to find some place which could reconcile what I know intellectually and feel morally, with still being able to find something possible to believe in within the framework of the civilization. Most of all where I wouldn’t keep hearing the screaming of Gaia which I’ve heard so loudly since I was a child.

Trouble is the screams only kept getting louder, and meanwhile anywhere I tried to find integrity I found only different mutations of the same ecocidal lust, psychopathy, satanism, corruption, hypocrisy, double-standards, lies, and vile gluttony. In nihilistic moments I’d say to myself, why not just chuck out all human integrity, since none seems to exist?

Well, I decide the better path is simply to look to nothing but the assured self-destruction of the destroyers of the Earth. Those who take up the sword of ecocide will be their own keystone victim. We can only pray the suicide of the genocidal-ecocidal civilization happens fast enough (and without nuclear war) that Gaia, including the true natural humanity, has something to salvage. For humans that’s a long-shot, and I’m a pessimist about avoiding nuclear war, but I guess that’s my version of optimism. Gaia shall endure and once again thrive, in one phase or another.

Meanwhile the call of Gaia which resounds is no longer only a call of despair, seemingly from the past. Now I hear it more present, more insistent, louder than ever. And increasingly the despair is being transformed into rage.

Two Atmospheric Transformations

Sometime over 2 billion years ago photosynthethic purple and green bacteria whose energy was based on extracting hydrogen from hydrogen sulfide and other gases were proliferating to the point that they faced a shortage of these hydrogen sources. Much free hydrogen also was being lost to space. Although water (H2O) was abundant, these primordial photosynthesizers lacked the ability to break the powerful bonds of water molecules. Under this evolutionary pressure some blue-green cyanobacterial ancestors developed a more complex mode of photosynthesis which was powerful enough to crack open water molecules and use their hydrogen.

This new source of abundant energy drove a population boom and generated great amounts of oxygen as waste. Before this, oxygen had never been a significant constituent of the atmosphere. Almost all free oxygen quickly recombined with environmental carbon, hydrogen, sulfur, or iron. Although the organic process of burying carbon began at some point, this always has been only a slow, gradual opportunity for oxygen to build up.

For a long time the newly generated excess oxygen continued to be assimilated by reducing gases, organic bodies, and exposed minerals. But as radioactivity and volcanism decreased, the amount of available sulfur and iron decreased. Free hydrogen continued to float away to space, while the proliferating water-cracking bacteria were incorporating more carbon into their biomass and releasing more oxygen to the atmosphere.

This led to Earth’s first pollution crisis. Free oxygen is poisonous to life which hasn’t adapted to it. Combined with light it instantly kills unadapted cells. In the bodies of respiratory creatures it creates free radicals which can cause mutations and cancer. Aerobic photosynthesizers and oxygen-breathers had to evolve chemical defenses against these effects.

Initially this was a great organic crisis and probably caused a mass extinction. But some cyanobacteria developed a way to use free oxygen for energy and evolved respiration and the necessary defenses against aerobic toxicity. Thus the crisis drove the greatest revolution in Gaian history. There were now two kingdoms of bacteria, the aerobes and anaerobes. All subsequent evolution of nuclear-celled life (eukaryotes – plants, animals, protozoans, fungi) stemmed from aerobic bacteria.

There’s no way of knowing if the original oxygen-polluter species were the same who adapted. Most likely they were among the extinction victims of their own waste. And since bacteria always have evolved much more quickly and profoundly, especially in a crisis, through horizontal genetic transfer than through gradual mutation the way more complex creatures do, it’s problematic to separate bacteria into different species as opposed to viewing them as a giant collective of quasi-species who are always no more than a few steps away from genetic trade.

At any rate, in any crisis, facing any great challenge, bacteria always will be the fastest to adapt and the most resilient. There’s no comparison between the survival prospects of bacteria and those of hyper-complex, hyper-dependent creatures like hominids.

And that’s a grim omen for today. For today a second cabal of creatures is driving a fast, artificial transformation: a small group of bacteria (those which benefit from industrial practices which destroy ecological constraints upon them and open up a free-fire terrain for them), and the berserk hominids whose brains they control. They systematically are pumping the air as full of greenhouse gases as they can, as fast as they can, with the goal of heating up the Earth as much as possible as fast as possible, generating as much climate chaos and ecological destruction as possible. Modern civilization has complete consensus on this campaign. (This is in spite of the fake “climate movement” it’s coughed up. This movement’s purpose is nothing but to tout various scams, each of which boils down to the promise that the ecocidal binge can continue, that you can destroy the Earth and live on it too.)

The ecocidal-genocidal civilization very probably will collapse within the next few decades and the worst of the emissions and sink destruction will cease. But the heating and chaos effects will intensify for centuries as they catch up with the carbon already emitted.

Although we’ll never know which bacteria adapted and which failed during the Archaean-Proterozoic oxygen transformation, we do know that civilized hominids will be the apex victims of their own campaign of global heating, climate chaos, poisonism and mass extinction. The only question is whether the human species will survive and recover on an ecological basis, the only basis which will be possible.

After the tremendous depletion and degradation of all “resources” by the modern binge and by previous civilizations, post-civilized re-primal humanity will face a material existence far more threadbare than that of the primal peoples, prior to civilization. This is one great challenge to species survival.

The second is that the fossil-fueled atmospheric transformation, and the general devastation inflicted upon the Earth by civilization, will force Gaia as a whole to undergo a transformation. This will be a phase change to a new state in accord with the heated and perturbed climate, the toxified environment, and the cataclysmic destruction of biodiversity wrought by the “Anthropocene” mass extinction event. This phase change will endure at least for many centuries and perhaps become the basis of a permanently different world ecology. It’s impossible to know beforehand the magnitude and details of this transformation and what new challenges it will pose to post-ecocide Gaian humanity. We can only guess.

Gaia Makes the Berserkers Insane: They Destroy Their Own Medicines

>

Those who Gaia would destroy she first makes insane.

A recent study describes how antibiotic and pesticide resistance are exceeding “planetary boundaries”, points of no return. As I’ve written in scores of pieces, these resistance treadmills are fully deliberate effects of poison-based agriculture. In particular, the complete destruction of antibiotics as a medically effective tool is a deliberate goal of modern civilization. All civilized actions prove it.

Here’s further proof from the link above:

In addition, increasing efforts to fully eradicate bacteria and pests is likely to make matters worse. Instead, new strategies are needed that promote the growth of bacteria and pests that are susceptible to pesticides and antibiotics, at the expense of those with resistance……These strategies are urgently needed as complements to development of new antibiotics and pesticides.

Almost all scientists and engineers are morbidly stupid. Here for the nth time going back to the 1950s we have further proof that the pesticide model of agriculture does not work. But as always the recommendation isn’t to abolish poisonism in favor of agroecology, which means to promote soil and field biodiversity which boosts beneficial organisms at the expense of pests, but to find some way to prop up poisonism just a little bit longer, to keep destroying the Earth and humanity as long as possible, to build the Tower of Babel higher.

We see this everywhere. Why is civilization determined to push poisonism and ecocide to the ultimate while it ignores and denounces actual solutions? The obvious proximate answer is power and profit, the deeper answer is Dominion theology and the technocratic ideology which goes with it, and the elemental sources of these. The “civilized” have zero thought patterns beyond their fundamentalist “belief”. It’s a modern civil religion with deep roots in prior monotheism. Together those proximate and profound imperatives are against anything decentralized, low-impact, low-dependency. And therefore against anything which could work, since their system depends upon reiterated failure and disaster in order to keep accruing power, to keep metastasizing as a literal cancer on the Earth (aka “growth”). The basic evils are monoculture and commodity as such. Like all industrial agriculture these cannot be redeemed at all nor should they be.

1. All complex life based on nucleated cells evolved from bacteria and remains connected with and dependent on bacteria. All complex traits including all human traits: Respiration, the cell nucleus, endosymbiosis within the cell, microbiome symbiosis throughout our bodies which is essential for all our physiological systems. Our brains are offshoots of our internal bacteria and remain appendages of it. We are 100% dependent upon microbes and plants for our food: We can’t manufacture a single nutrient ourselves. This is the congenital and permanent condition of hominids. And there’s never been a more totally helpless, totally dependent, inherently parasitic creature which contributes nothing but its own rotting tissues after it dies, than civilized hominids.

(Here’s some Elementary Notes on Bacteria.)

2. The primary mode of genetic exchange among bacteria is horizontal transfer of genetic information between cells. This exchange is most direct through closely related forms, and indirectly the information can be transferred along a chain of bacteria so that it quickly moves between officially unrelated species. This information network keeps our microbiome in constant communication with all the bacteria surrounding us, and the microbiome in turn communicates this way with our endosymbiotic cells.

3. Mob actions of humans, including the civilized mob, arise from bacterial imperatives. We are driven by the bacteria which first evolved our brains out of themselves and the bacteria of our microbiome which continue to influence human brains. This includes our religious, cultural, and political mobs. It includes our economic mobs, such as the mob action which makes the monstrous lurch from working for personal and community need and use to working to produce commodities.

4. It was precisely these worthless spoiled brats which rebelled in blackest ingratitude against their creator and sustainer. They forsook their nurturing trees, sundered themselves, launched a campaign of enslavement and extermination against the trees; blasphemed against the bacteria which had bequeathed to them all their necessary traits and which continued to administer those traits, slandering bacteria as “germs” which cause disease and launching a sterilization campaign against them.

Blackest of all they declared total war on Gaia herself. Man vs. nature in a total war of extermination. This is the Dominion theology, first extruded from ancient monotheism and carried as a poison torch into modernity by Neochristian science and technocracy.

The great irony is that the modern form of the Dominion crusade has systematically selected the worst microbial pathogens as its primary allies in its doomed war on the Earth. More accurately, a few strains of bacteria – botulins, salmonella, E. coli, staph – have selected the civilized Dominionists.

5. Governments, corporations, academia, the STEM establishment, media, and Western voters are decades into a systematic campaign to drive the evolution of bacterial resistance to antibiotics and to wipe out antibiotics as a medically effective treatment. This is one of the most perfect examples of self-destructive action amid the delusions of dominion. Those who Gaia would destroy she first makes insane. These few strains of pathogenic bacteria temporarily benefit though they’ll soon kill the host. The host hallucinates the alleged benefits of the war and is driven berserk by the compulsion, forced by the selected bacteria, to wage this war.

6. Some bacteria have been potential pathogens throughout the human experience. But only in late modernity have they become a primary Gaian vector against this berserk infestation called modern civilization. The berserkers themselves consciously have chosen this doom, through their most cherished religion – productionism, monoculture, scientism, technocracy, Mammon – and most cherished infrastructure – soil-destroying industrial agriculture, factory farms, pesticide factories, genetic engineering labs, science classrooms (as well as garages and basements).

These are the main strategies and tactics civilized hominids deploy in order directly to nurture privileged bacteria (Agrobacterium tumefaciens and the pathogens selected for antibiotic resistance by factory farms, pesticides, and genetic engineering), foster antibiotic resistance in privileged pathogens, and suppress beneficial bacteria. And then these selected bacteria communicate their drug resistance as globally as they can.

(Note that the boot-licking techno-wingnuts and proxxer lynch mobs have zero to say about this systematic campaign to wipe out antibiotics, because they know this campaign is driven by their government-corporate masters, and more deeply they are driven by the same bacterial control which controls these structures of modern civilization.)

Those who Gaia would destroy she first makes insane. There’s no way to view agriculture’s systematic antibiotic overuse campaign other than as a deliberate campaign to wipe out antibiotics and cause lethal pandemics. Hominids which do this or support it or tolerate it are disease vectors, Typhoid Marys, rabid dogs which need to be dealt with as such. They are controlled and driven by the physical germs whose epidemics these social structures and actions are designed to maximize.

7. This de jure antibiotic resistance campaign joins the general diffusion and maximizing of pathogens and epidemics driven by war, globalization, commodity agriculture, deforestation, climate chaos and global heating. It shall be a lead mechanism of Gaia’s Kinesis, her primary acute weapon and mode of inducing self-destruction among the berserkers. We are witnessing the collective suicide of the berserker civilization, in this way and many others.

Rabid Mammon

>

There are dives where, if a glass of beer drops to the floor and smashes, the winos will dive to lick the sauce from the tiles.

There are dens where, if some junk gets scattered the junkies will dive to sniff up the festering dust, mining for a few stray specks of obsession. If someone sneezes at the wrong time they can be beaten senseless for it.

For these addicts the drug offers nothing, no high, only compulsion, only brief respite from terror.

There are graveyards and necropolises where, if literally a single drop of blood, a single dollar more can be wrung from a stone, the orcs which have power are driven to do it. This dollar is worthless to them, they have infinitely more dollars than they ever could spend. What they do spend brings them no satisfaction, no contentment, no happiness, only ever greater compulsion and derangement. For the orcs the money and power offer nothing, no pleasure, no sense of strength and health. It brings only the opposite, grim compulsion and brief respite from terror they inflict first upon themselves, then upon everyone else. This is true of them as individuals, this is true of them as a group, as a city, as a civilization.

This is true of the elites, and it’s true of the atoms which worship these elites. The atoms which bow down and chant all day and night at the gravestone of humanity and the Earth, the atoms which worship death. They have no life, no feeling, nothing but compulsion and terror. Only such a force can drive such an extreme death-wishing addiction as we see every day, everywhere we look, in every person-to-person and person-to-Earth relationship. This is the essence of Mammon, a psychopathic derangement, the core religion of modern civilization which encompasses all modern sub-religions – neo-Christianity (science and technocracy), “progress”, liberalism, individualism, productionism, cancer (“growth”).

This one collective rabid dog, nothing more or less. The Earth shall put it down, put it out of its misery, above all put it out of our misery: Whatever few humans are left of us amid the burning cities of the blasted plain, we few who are ready to return home; and the greater community who have never embraced Sodom and Gomorrah, who have only been its prey but who maintain their lives amid the Earth.

For the Civilized War is A Domestic Ritual

>

Where the first civilization eradicated the first forests, generating the first man-made desert, war still rages to this day.

Civilized people love war. They cherish war since they know deep down their civilization depends completely upon predatory war: War on traditional peoples, war on weaker civilized societies, incessant economic civil war within each society, most of all war on the Earth itself. Modern global-Western civilization was born in war, built through war, is sustained to this day through war, and must commit suicide through war. This sums up the only meat of the religion of all civilized hominids.

Take for example one of their most cherished rituals, elections. Elections have no objective reality to them: There’s never a real choice, nor do the elected personnel feel any responsibility to give the voters what the voters claim to want. On the contrary, they deny in principle that they have any responsibility to the people at all. They openly proclaim that their only responsibility is to the binge and destruction imperatives of the economic civilization, and that any national election is nothing but a ritual where one votes Yes to the extreme-energy binge and the destruction. That’s all democracy has turned out to be, all it ever was. This is historical fact. And in truth this is what the voters really want, nothing more or less.

An election is nothing but a religious ritual. One can vote Yes, vote one’s yes-confidence in the priesthood and in the church of the extreme-energy ecocidal civilization. All else is the meaningless fake politics of a population which is nothing but squatters and vandals infesting the surface of the Earth, which give the Earth nothing in return for all they take, which wantonly despoil far more than they actually take, which are no part of the Earth at all.

Therefore the voters always vote unanimously for permanent war. They’ve long voted unanimously for permanent imperial war in the Mideast, for the Zionist genocidal war, for permanent war in Afghanistan, in Iraq. They all voted for the military destruction of Libya and have wanted the same for Syria. They’ve voted unanimously for twenty years of economic war on Venezuela, and next chance they get they’ll vote for military invasion, as in the past they voted for every kind of assault on every part of Latin America. They all want nuclear war with North Korea. They all want World War III with Russia and China. They all want permanent war unto total ecocide, total genocide, total suicide. All this is proven by their political actions and their day-to-day actions.

War always is mass murder, and war always is ecocide: The direct destruction of the explosives and poisons and vehicles and carbon emissions; the residual poisons left behind, from Agent Orange residue to every kind of chemical waste to radioactive ammunition waste; most destructive of all is war’s pretext for accelerated technological deployment and escalated over-production, again synonymous with ecocide. This is the most profound aspect of how the economic civilization loves war for the sake of profitable destruction, loves war for the sake of ratcheting up the production/consumption binge, loves war because it destroys in order to free up space to ratchet up production again. That’s a big part of why civilized people in general love permanent war: In tandem with commodity production the permanent global imperial war is a permanent world destruction machine, a permanent exercise in Dominion which is the core theology shared by monotheism and modern scientism-technocracy. The civilized voters vote for nothing but murder and suicide, with nameless decadence and misery throughout the way.

Thus all political Americans lust for war. That’s proven by the fact that they vote for it every time. Every election is a Yes or No plebiscite on permanent war, and the only way to vote No is to boycott the fake election completely.

Are there anti-war Americans? Yes, but we’re among those who gave up on fake voting. Part of reason I’ve never voted is that I truly am anti-war and therefore cannot participate in an election which is nothing but a Yes vote for war.

(But don’t mistake me, thinking I yearn for “better elections”. No, these are what modern elections are, what they’ve always been, just as these are what voters are, what they’ve always been.)

The same goes for Yes-voting for the binge economy, for ecocide, for technocracy, for the police state and prison complex, for the cultural and economic genocide of indigenous/traditional peoples and community farmers, their physical destruction soon to follow. These are the only true matters left, the only things that matter. The rest is mere squatter politics, trivia curated by the media. And even there there’s only one party to vote for and the vote always is unanimous: Yes to the same economic tyranny which drives all the real elements of the gathering apocalypse.

For the civilized, war is a domestic ritual, just as elections and voting are a ritual. And in fact they’re the same ritual, inextricable. The only vote being offered is Yes to war. Yes to total war unto the end.

I’ve never been able to think in any terms of the intrinsically murderous politics of the intrinsically murderous system. I’ve only ever been able to think in terms of building a movement completely outside the system, completely without any of the system’s personnel, completely against the system. And since it’s clear that no such movement is going to exist, today I think only in terms of spiritual kernels and arks to endure the gathering Kinesis and tribulation, to bring through the flames whatever is worth salvaging for a post-civilized, Gaian humanity. Gaia knows there’s little enough of that.
