The Cry of the Earth

All my life I’ve heard the cry of the Earth. Earth’s cry of pain, sadness, growing rage. I heard it as a child. As a young adult I tried to ignore it but it was always there. Then it came near once again, insistent, from without and within, and I could no longer ignore. As it was a cry from the Earth, I now cry from the wilderness.

The Earth spoke to me, through Jeremiah.

The word of Gaia came to me, saying,
Go and cry in the ears of America, saying,
Thus says the Earth; I remember you,
The kindness of your youth,
The love of your espousals,
When you went after me in the wilderness,
In a land that was not sown.
America was holiness unto the Earth,
And the first fruits of his increase:
All that devour him shall offend;
Evil shall come upon them, says the Earth.

And the Earth spoke again even more directly through Revelation:

The nations were angry,
And Earth’s wrath is come,
And the time of the dead,
That they should be judged,
And that you should give reward unto your servants the prophets,
And to the saints,
And them that fear your name, small and great;
And should destroy them which destroy the earth.

Gaia’s kinesis shall destroy those who destroy the Earth, Gaia’s unfailing way of dealing with berserk infestations.

Sometimes I transpose the Bible because Earth speaks to me through it, part of my acculturation. The same is true of some poets, philosophers, novelists.

And musicians.
