Corporate Scientists “Mostly Say, Hooray for Our Side”

It’s a space-age church, all right.

Yet another gang of corporate conformists will be out shrieking about nothing, this time holding a so-called “March for Science”. Their premise is that this administration is “anti-science” in a way previous administrations* were not.
This of course is a lie. There is perfect consensus among the US political class and both divisions of the Corporate One-Party that science is supposed to serve corporate imperatives. There is no significant dissent from this dogma within the system. Therefore according to the measure of the Popperian scientific method, all US political and economic institutions are anti-science. But more accurately, today’s Kuhnian “normal science” is the corporate science paradigm, which can be summed up as, “Science is whatever the corporate marketing department says it is, nothing more and nothing less.” As always, the only difference among the pro-corporate factions is cosmetic: Trump’s “science” has some superficial differences in tone from Obama’s “science”, no significant differences. The main cosmetic difference is in their respective modes of climate denial. Trump is reviving old-style de jure denial which had fallen into relative disuse, while Obama represented the full development of the de facto denialism of crying crocodile tears but insisting that nothing has to change. While liberals, leftists, and mainstream environmental groups shrilly invoke the specter of climate change, by their actions, from their continued personal jet-setting to their fraudulent corporate-aggrandizing policy prescriptions, they prove every day that they don’t really believe there’s a climate crisis. At any rate it’s a proven fact that they don’t want to do anything about it.
The climate crisis is very real, but those among the system political class who claim to believe in it and care about it are liars and con artists. Indeed, this mass political abdication and embrace of such cynicism is part of the political and cultural manifestation of the greater crisis, of which physical climate chaos (a deliberate corporate campaign), is itself a part.
Meanwhile from Obama to Trump there’s not even a cosmetic change in the “science” propaganda and deployment of agricultural poisons. How could there be: Where it comes to poisonism the Obama administration was the most aggressively anti-science, pro-corporate administration yet.
We see that the March for Science is a typically stupid misdirection ploy. As with every other version of this lie, the goal is to keep the people imprisoned with the chains of the corporate system’s ideas and the limits of its “politics”. In particular, the lie’s two main parts are:
1. Never question the overall status quo, which is permanent and never will change or can be changed.
2. Refer all questions to the conflict of Republican vs. Democrat, which encompasses all conflict.
These are both extremely stupid lies designed to keep the people stupid and comatose. But in reality the status quo is impossible and will collapse of its own physical limitations and self-destruction. And in reality there’s no difference between Republican and Democrat and they do not conflict in any significant way. On the contrary, as I said above they have perfect consensus: On corporate rule, and on the fundamentalist religion of the goodness and permanency of the extreme energy consumption model of civilization.
Where it comes to this latter faith, they are true believers. And when they preach their Republican/Democrat lie they are preaching to fellow believers among the people, who are the real constituency for this propaganda. They’re also trying to smother in the cradle any nascent awakening to the truth.
All system propaganda institutions, from political parties to regulatory agencies to NGOs to academia and the media to the scientific establishment, are working on this same role of reinforcing cult faith in extreme energy consumption and suppressing any new idea. The March for Science is the latest such gambit of the corporate science establishment.
Meanwhile why doesn’t someone organize a march to liberate science from corporate control? For starters, only about two people would show up. (Indeed, even the critics of corporate control of science are still system grinders who prefer to party with the cool kids.)
*If you’re wondering whether our political science class thought George Bush was anti-science, I refer you to their valedictorian and head cheerleader Neil DeGrasse Tyson:

Q: President George W. Bush named you to a pair of aerospace commissions, but how do you feel about Bush’s relationship with science?

A: People can say and think what they want, but what matters is whether or not it becomes policy or legislation, and I don’t remember any legislation that restricted science. In fact, the budget for the National Science Foundation went up. What matters is money in Congress. What does Congress do? Allocate money. That’s really what they do. So the science budget of the country went up during the Bush administration, and the budget for NASA went up 3 percent—and it had actually dropped 25 percent in real spending dollars under the eight years of President Clinton. I don’t care what you say or think. I care about legislation, and policy.

Also, he appointed me! There may have been some science that he hadn’t learned yet or didn’t know fully, but he’s not creating legislation based on it. Speeches are politics, so you can’t fault a politician for saying something political.

So Bush was OK. I also appreciate Tyson’s refreshing honesty in openly acknowledging that he and other scientists are for sale and will espouse whatever “science” they’re paid to espouse, especially if presidents also heap honors upon them. And that the March for Science is nothing but speeches and politics, about nothing but speeches and politics and money. Yes, all this is what Popper was talking about.
Help propagate the necessary ideas.

  1. Since the corporate media, including the corporate “science” media like the AAAS, keeps calling this a “grassroots” event, you might like to check out the roster of trade groups the AAAS considers to be “science groups”. Appropriately enough, they lead off with none other than the American Chemical Society.

In fact this is a standard professionalized NGO-type pre-packaged top-down pseudo-political event with nothing remotely grassroots about it. According to their own account the organizers were like-minded professional cadres who from the start worked only in terms of political professionalization and enlisting large professional and industry groups who would then help propagate the event. They also plugged into the existing Democrat Party-astroturfed “protest” circuit. Indeed by their own testimony they were inspired by this pseudo-political circus and wanted to join up with it.

Therefore, if this event wasn’t a de jure astroturf from the inception, it was conceived and organized to become an astroturf in practice, every step of the way.

    • Propagated with my supplements…

“Vaccines (poison shots), GMOs (poison foods), Geoengineering (poison sprays), poison-based agriculture…..all the exact opposite of anything scientific. All the definition of political and economic weapons falsely packaged up and sold as “science”. Having a laboratory, a bunch of money, media & literature control, and authoritative criminals in special coats does not make a science, but a cult.”

The above are all the same criminal syndicate with the same goals. They also put the neurotoxic industrial chemical waste in municipal drinking water supplies and called it good for our teeth.

This is why when I hear the phrase “conspiracy theory”, I say:

      1) You are using the word theory wrong. There isn’t anything theoretical about certain conspiring. It’s all documented and out in the open.

      2) Yes, we all know that wealthy and powerful gangsters never get together and make plans. And when they do, they certainly want to be transparent about it. Just look at their track record…. an honest bunch they are. Exercise your logic muscles.

The establishment is building the case for WWIII with various new items on the menu because it’s the only way they have left to justify their fake credibility or grow the fake economy. Truly, the inmates are running the asylum.

      • The one thing I’m not optimistic about is how likely it is we’ll get out of this jam without WWIII. Everything I know about history and about these demented elites in particular tells me it’s unlikely they’ll go down without using nukes in a vain attempt to preserve their power. We see how the liberals are so deranged that they actually want to go back to the nuclear terror for no other reason than that this is the only alternative they can come up with to having to actually think about the Democrat Party. Of course conservatives always wanted this. Therefore ALL existing political factions in the US today are war-mongering neocons, just one of the many ways there’s near-complete consensus among them.

      • Indeed. Things have only become more insane since the election theatrical presentation ended. The loser’s campaign war promises and policies are being enacted with coercive assistance provided by the “intelligence” community and an establishment media marching in perfect narrative orchestration- including red baiting. They are frothing at the mouth for escalation in Syria, Iran, N. Korea, and ultimately Russia. These are allegedly “liberals” whose only petting of the dog they wagged came after he started bombing people based on their shitty reporting and propaganda. There is no safe place on earth from the Military Industrial Complex right now, even inside the U.S. borders, which can easily be used for false flag operations.

Speaking of frame jobs. The Syrian “chemical attack” was another repeat of a failed movie tried before in 2013 to create pretext for regime change. The U.S. public seems unwilling to face up to the fact that its own Govt./military is in bed with hired terror proxies in places they are pretending to be humanitarians.

“MIT’s Dr. Theodore Postol, America’s most highly honored expert on intelligence-analysis, has been trying unsuccessfully to obtain U.S. press-coverage of flaws in the official White House document, “White House Intelligence Report” concerning the alleged sarin event on April 4th; and, in apparent frustration at the total lack of mainstream coverage of this in the United States, Dr. Postol closed his latest analysis of the source-evidence that the document had relied upon, by saying:

“The critical function of the mainstream media in the current situation should be to report the facts that clearly and unambiguously contradict government claims. This has so far not occurred. … The President and his staff took decisions without any intelligence, or far more likely ignored intelligence from the professional community that they were given, to execute an attack in the Middle East that had the danger of creating an inadvertent military confrontation with Russia.”

The present news-report is being submitted to all U.S. news media, for publication without charge, in the hope that Dr. Postol’s analysis, and other critical analyses of the White House Intelligence Report, will be made public by the U.S. news media, given that the Trump Administration is blocking any third-party independent scientific investigation into this important matter, and a war between the United States and Russia could result.”

So the press is officially the “fake news” it claims to warn us about. I’m not optimistic either. My only hope is that the finance department of the establishment elites are parasites and recognize us debt serfs are the host. But we are dealing with psychopathic people proficient in organized mass murder. On the other hand, I have no idea how to stop them. They are still certainly out ahead of any major shift in collective consciousness. Sorry for the spin off into foreign invasion policy.

        Comment by Pete — April 25, 2017 @ 7:22 am

      • Ultimately it all describes the same psychotic kamikaze system. I don’t think there’s any way to “stop” them as long as the fossil fuel, environmental, and organizational basis of their power remains intact. The purposes of starting right now to build a movement of abolition and for the spiritual and cultural affirmatives of the new Earth are:

        1. To propagate the new and necessary ideas. To make these part of the public consciousness, even if at first most people don’t take them up. But right now people literally have no idea that there exist far better alternatives to industrial agriculture, globalization, the finance sector, etc., that all these things are destructive rather than constructive, that there’s no physical basis for the future of this system either (no substitute for fossil fuels; the soil and ecology as a whole cannot sustain it anyway).

        2. To build the new within the old. Especially agroecology and the community food sector, but also whatever else is possible in other sectors. To defend this rising movement against the increasingly brutal attempts to suppress it. This is an actual physical necessity since it’s necessary to preserve as much of the agricultural and wild germplasm as possible for the future basis of agriculture, and it’s necessary to preserve as much of the still-living arable soil as possible, and start rebuilding the soil wherever possible, starting right now. All this is already happening, and needs greatly to expand and to become fully conscious of itself as a world-changing movement.

        3. To prepare for the time, which will come unpredictably but can start accelerating at any time, where the basis of corporate global power begins to erode in earnest. To be ready to act in any way possible as this proceeds. Even now I think there’s several potentially powerful wedge campaigns we could run which could help to break up existing political alignments, in particular the overall fear and loathing of poisonism.

        4. To build itself as the skeleton of a future mass movement, when the masses to whom we previously propagated the new and necessary ideas (1) suddenly become ready to take up these ideas and commit to them. That’s when the abolitionist and ecological movement (by “ecology” meaning not just the physical environment but economy, politics, spirit, culture) will have its first great chance to transform the Earth. That’s also when it’ll be humanity’s one and only option, besides mass starvation and pandemics.

So that’s what my project’s all about.
